With The United States and Communist China very much-so entangled in a trade war, China is evidently looking to take things to a terrifying new level – biological warfare!
Two Chinese nationals, Yunqing Jian, 33, and Zunyong Liu, 34, have been caught allegedly smuggling a biological weapon into the United States which would have DEVASTATED America’s food supply.
Their weapon of choice was a fungus named “Fusarium graminearum” which scientists have labeled as a “potential agroterrorism weapon.”
This fungus has the capability of DESTROYING America’s wheat, barley, maize, and rice crops while simultaneously poisoning humans and livestock with its toxic byproducts.
It causes “head blight,” a disease that can wipe out staple crops, its toxins induce vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive issues in humans and animals.
This fungus, in the wrong hands, is a full-blown bioweapon.
While attempting to sneak the pathogen in through Detroit Metropolitan Airport the two were caught by Customs and Border Protection who foiled the Chinese plot that could have been very bad for this country.
Jian is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan’s Molecular Plant-Microbe Interaction Laboratory, and her boyfriend Liu, a researcher at Zhejiang University in China.
The pair allegedly conspired smuggle this crop-killing fungus into the U.S. lab for “research” purposes.
Liu landed in Detroit on a tourist visa, claiming he was “visiting his girlfriend.”
When CBP officers searched his luggage, they found four plastic baggies stuffed with reddish plant material, later confirmed to be laced with Fusarium graminearum.
Liu initially played dumb, insisting someone must have “planted the stuff in his bag.”
After a bit of questioning, Liu admitted that he intentionally hid the samples in a wad of tissue paper for the purpose of trying to sneak them past CBP officials, adding that his intentions were to deliver them to his supposed girlfriend’s lab.
Department of Justice officials certainly weren’t buying this bogus story. On June 3, 2025, the DOJ decided to charge Jian and Liu with conspiracy, smuggling, false statements, and visa fraud. But even that feels a bit light for them being caught in the middle of a planned bio-terror attack!
Even worse, the FBI uncovered messages exchanged between the two Chinese nationals and confirmed that this was a planned attack on the United States.
Communications between Jian and Liu suggest that back in 2022 Jian was discussing how to smuggle biological materials past CBP, even boasting about hiding samples in her shoes during a previous trip.
In early 2024, she also reportedly arranged for an associate in China to mail a book with a plastic bag of material hidden inside.
But here’s the absolute WORST part.
Inside of Jian’s phone, FBI officials found a signed pledge of loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party! They ALSO found evidence that the Chinese government was funding her “research” on this particular pathogen!
And Liu’s phone wasn’t much better. Authorities found it contained an article titled “2018 Plant-Pathogen Warfare Under Changing Climate Conditions,” which explicitly flags the fungus as a crop-destroying threat.
U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon called the smuggling attempt a deliberate move to introduce a pathogen that could paralyze America’s agricultural crop belts.
The CCP’s fingerprints are ALL OVER this thing and it’s yet another reminder that the Chinese are willing to play dirty to achieve their goals – even if it means starving hundreds of millions of Americans.
Remember that the next time you see a politician bend the knee to their Chinese overlords…
