There’s a strange thing happening in Chicago right now, and it’s not the usual political spin. President Trump is considering sending in the National Guard to help deal with the city’s ongoing crime crisis. And while you’d expect the usual pearl-clutching from Democrat leaders—and yes, they’re doing just that—what’s surprising is who’s starting to back the President: Chicago’s Black residents.
Chicago has been a Democrat-run city for decades. It’s been their pet project, a place where progressive policies are supposed to shine. But what do we really see? Generational poverty, skyrocketing crime, and a political class more worried about looking woke than keeping citizens safe.
Now, the Mayor’s office claims that homicides are down 33% and shootings are down 38% this year. That sounds great on paper—until you look at what just happened over Labor Day weekend. Fifty-four people shot. Seven dead. That’s not a city on the road to recovery—that’s a war zone.
And here’s where it gets interesting. Black voices—real people, not politicians—are starting to say what needs to be said. They’re not interested in political games. They’re interested in safety.
One user on X nailed it: “The same white Democrats who claim to care so much about Black people are the same ones protesting the federal government coming in to help Chicago crack down on its crime.” That’s the truth right there. Democrats would rather oppose Trump than save lives.
Another commenter said it even better: “These Democratic cities invest in crime.” And they do. They fund programs that don’t work. They coddle criminals in the name of equity. And when someone like Trump says, “Enough is enough,” they panic—not because they care about the people, but because it exposes their failure.
Let’s not forget the facts. In 2024, Chicago ranked eighth in robberies nationwide and 22nd in murder rate. That’s not something to be proud of. That’s a red alarm for action.
And what does the Democrat leadership say? Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton says Chicago is “thriving.” Thriving? Fifty-four people shot in one weekend? That’s not thriving—it’s delusion.
As one TikTok user put it, “I am convinced that the people that are in Chicago that are protesting Trump sending the National Guard simply enjoy and do not want change in their city.” That’s harsh—but it’s not far off. When someone says they’d rather live in fear than admit Trump might be right, that’s not principled—it’s political suicide.
And let’s address the elephant in the room. If former President Obama were the one sending in the National Guard, these same Democrat leaders would be throwing parades. But because it’s Trump, they scream “dictator” and “unconstitutional.” Give me a break.
The Constitution gives the President the mandate to protect American citizens. And if local leadership fails—as it clearly has in Chicago—then the federal government has every right to step in. Not for politics. For the people.
President Trump has always stood for law and order. He’s not afraid to take the heat if it means saving lives. He’s not interested in playing nice with failed mayors and out-of-touch governors. He’s interested in results.
And the people—Black, White, and everyone in between—are starting to see that. They’re waking up to the fact that safety isn’t partisan. It’s common sense.
Chicago doesn’t need more press conferences. It doesn’t need more empty promises. It needs leadership. And that’s exactly what President Trump is offering. Whether the Democrats like it or not.
