It may not surprise intelligent Americans who recognized that lockdowns do not work, but Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer emerged as the poster child for pandemic failure.
The far-left Democrat threw a fit for the fake news media to report after receiving assurances from former President Donald Trump, her home state would receive critical support even while New York City suffered the highest Covid infection rates and deaths in the country. Governor Whitmer’s forced closures of businesses and attempted to subvert Michigan law to unnecessarily impose Draconian restrictions. Her wrong-headed measures resulted in among the persistent worst rates of infection in the nation.
“There’s light at the end of this tunnel, but the recent rise in cases is a reminder that we are still in the tunnel. That’s the nature of this virus. The second we let our guard down, it comes roaring back,” the authoritarian Democrat said. “We are seeing a surge in Michigan despite the fact that we have some of the strongest policies in place, mask mandates, capacity limits, working from home. We’ve asked our state for a two-week pause.”
Her statement and push to impose yet another “two-week pause” did not gibe with the tremendous success enjoyed by Republican governors who backed off on lockdowns early because they were counter-productive.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ rejection of mask mandates and business closures early has delivered better results than Michigan. According to recent CDC data, the Sunshine State posted 176.3 instances of infection per 100,000 residents over a one-week period. The slowing infection rates are particularly remarkable given the huge number of vacationers over the winter.
Texas Governor Gregg Abbott saw infection rates decline after eliminating mask mandates and business restrictions as vaccinations increased. During the same week as the Florida data, Texas saw rates plummet to 64.6 cases per 100,000 people and a low 18,731 cases in the country’s second-largest state. President Joe Biden’s Covid puppet, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has been making the rounds trying to discredit Republican success that rejects his forever mask fetish.
“It can be confusing because you may see a lag and a delay because often, you have to wait a few weeks before you see the effect of what you’re doing right now,” Fauci reportedly said.
The facts fly in the face of his politically-motivated statement. Governor DeSantis lifted mask mandates months ago in Florida. Texas has primarily urged citizens to take precautions, but remained open and flexible for the most part. By contrast, Michigan and other Democrat-run states cannot seem to stop the Covid bleeding.
Michigan posted a stunning 492.1 cases per 100,000 without the high-traffic vacationers. During the same week as Florida and Texas, Michigan suffered 49,141 cases despite not ranking among the top 10 states by area and ranking behind both Texas and Florida in population. Like the epic failure of Whitmer, New York City suffered a reported 289.4 cases per 100,000. New York State, after excluding the city, struggled with 239.9 cases. Democrat-run Pennsylvania was also hit with 230 cases per 100,000.
The fake news media criticized Republicans, claiming they were not following the science. The data proves the Republican approach used the known science to protect people by achieving the best possible results. Whitmer and her left-wing party members played politics at the expense of American lives.
When you do stupid things, not for public health, but for power (because you can) . You can never expect good results. Totalitarian rule has never worked well.
Yes, we keep seeing blue state failure with Covid and other issues, so what? Will the beleaguered, control weary voters in these places punish their tyrannical government? A major difference between liberals and conservatives is we vote out failures and lightweights, for the most part, but they circle the wagons. It’s because the mental disorder of liberalism does not allow for honest self criticism and admission of mistakes, let alone corrective measures. If you doubt me, how the hell did Mad Maxine Waters win by 71% to 28% against a decorated vet like Joe Collins?
I believe there was corruption in the previous elections which handed us a Dem. Governor like “Whitless” and her comrades. Our SOS – worthless and corrupt…..Our AG – same. So what should we, here in MI expect? This is why we need to revamp our election laws….we need to totally secure our polls (maybe even with the military handling it instead of people who have questionable motives. As for Mad Max’s re-election….chalk it up to corruption once again. I believe that the Supreme Court should demand an audit of all 50 states and we would see the Republicans win the Senate and House. (If the ballots have not been already tampered with.)

Michigan resident here, city of Grand Rapids. Not only has Gov. Whitmer completely mismanaged Covid-19 but she also wants to shut down Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 which is in the Straits of Mackinac. It runs parallel to the Mackinac Bridge. It lays on the lake bed in open water. Line 5 is two 20 inch pipes. One supplies propane and the other supplies crude oil to the LP of Michigan. She has no back-up plan to replace it. Enbridge Energy wants to construct a tunnel underneath the lake bed to house and protect it. Her claim is that because Line 5 sits on the lake bed that it could cause a potential environmental disaster.
Funny how our covid numbers in Michigan spiked after Whitless started welcoming the illegal immigrants from the border crisis, yet she blames her constituents for not following her draconian mandates. 3 power hungry bitches at the top, most likely by way of election tampering prior to the 2020 farce. Interesting how our state legislature is primarily Republican, Trump won MI in 2016, yet the top 3 exec’s are Dems, bought and paid for by Zuckerberg and probably Soros.
