Democrats in the state of Maine are pushing for a new “migrant resettlement” office and in doing so they’ve flat-out admitted that illegal immigrants are more important to them than American veterans.
They’re no longer even bothering to hide their anti-American ideologies!
In January the state’s Democrat Governor Janet Mills proposed a new migrant resettlement office within the governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future (GOPIF).
This office, per Mills’ direction, would be named the “Office of New Americans” (ONA).
With the help of a radical leftist bill named LD 2167, this resettlement office will look to attract 75,000 new workers over the next five years by incorporating illegal immigrants into the state’s workforce – never mind the fact that there are good hardworking Americans who are already struggling to find jobs.
Democrat State Rep. Deqa Dhalac, is a co-sponsor of the bill and was recently asked during a hearing why Maine should “fast track” migrants who have broken the law by sneaking into America over focusing their efforts on helping U.S. citizens – specifically those who fought for our country in the military.
Dhalac – the first Somali-born mayor in the country before joining Congress – said that veterans have certain “advantages” over illegals and don’t need the help.
“They have the advantage of speaking the language, most of our military folks. So these folks that we’re really working on may not have that,” Dhalac said. “So it’s going to be really difficult for them to say ‘yes, I used to be an electrician in my country.’”
“Throughout our histories, our state’s history, we have been enriched by the presence of immigrants,” she said.
“When immigrants enter the labor force, they increase the productive capacity of the economy and raise the GDP,” she continued, while failing to mention that in reality, this lowers wages for Americans.
This bill also proposes the establishment of an advisory council for the ONA comprising of 19 individuals who will help the governor make decisions on “matters affecting the long-term economic and civic integration of immigrants in the State.”
At least 10 out of the 19 members on this council will be legally REQUIRED to be immigrants – 8 of them appointed by the governor with a focus on DEI.
Gov. Mills claims that Maine needs more workers and this bill helping illegal immigrants get jobs will help with that.
“Everywhere you look across Maine, there are help wanted signs. We need workers, and New Americans, who want to support themselves and their families, can be one important part of that solution,” Mills said.
“My Administration will do what we can to ensure that every person can contribute to our economy and successfully enter and stay in our workforce.”
For some reason these Democrats would rather reward illegal immigrants with good paying jobs over the Americans who put their lives on the line to protect this nation. That should tell you everything you need to know about where the left’s priorities lie.
