If former President Donald Trump had called for a bill creating a “Civilian Corps” to push forward any one of his politics, the uproar would have made the Capital Hill “riot” look like a walk in the park. Now, however, far-left liberal politicians are trying to create a civilian army to “mobilize the next generation of conservation” and there is hardly a peep about it from the mainstream media.
The new Civilian Climate Corp would ostensibly include jobs such as conservation and restoration on public lands, providing natural climate solutions, replacing vulnerable infrastructure, protecting biodiversity, and helping communities adapt to climate change. The corps would be supervised by the federal government in partnership with NGOs, likely the very same far-left ones that are pushing politicians to adopt Draconian regulations to stop “climate change.”
There are so many things wrong with creating a government-controlled body of youngsters dedicated to carrying out a particular government policy that it’s hard to know where to start.
First of all, those who are familiar with history will notice at least few similarities between the Civilian Climate Corps and communist youth organizations such as Mao’s Red Guard. Radical youth, when given the tools and government backing for use of force, can wreak untold havoc on the lives of millions of people in the name of “making the world a better place.”
Furthermore, the mandate for the corps isn’t clearly defined. What happens if someone in a neighborhood doesn’t want to be “helped” to “adapt to climate change”? If vulnerable infrastructure is located on private land, would the Civilian Climate Corps have the right to tear it down or modify it? It’s a valid question considering the fact the New Green Deal calls for the federal government to force home and business owners to modify their buildings to make them more eco-friendly.
The far-left activists behind the proposal say their move will create good jobs as corps members would earn at least $15 an hour and receive generous benefits such as full health care coverage, support for services such as housing and childcare and tax-free educational grants of $25,000 per year. However, as Senator Rand Paul rightly pointed out, it’s the marketplace that should create jobs without government interference, not government bureaucrats.
If the Biden Administration was so concerned about job creation, the president might have thought twice about canceling construction of the Keystone XL pipeline — and with it more than 11,000 jobs and $1.6 billion in wages. The truth is that the Civilian Climate Corps isn’t about creating jobs. It’s a move by far-left activists to empower passionate yet inexperienced young people to further a far-left agenda.
The man is an opportunist fool. Just who is going to pay for his damn fool ideas? Just everyone, especially those on a fix income. He is just pandering to the loony left who have lots of bright ideas and no clue on how to implement or pay for them. He is encouraging migrants to come to the US, have free housing, health care, education and full voting rights. This is so he can build up his electoral advantage to the determent of his own citizens. This is because the emigrants would in his mind, be more likely to vote for him.

Can you imagine these ill trained scouts coming to your door to tell you about your house. They do not live there. You could engage them for hours with questions, comments, and similar talk. Bring them on. I figure with just a little neighborhood planning they could maybe cover 2 houses a day. And make sure the scout takes plenty of notes so he or she has lots of work back at the office. I would buy stock in a paper company with all the paperwork I plan to generate for them. And it probably gets printed in triplicate.
