Congratulations to the Democrat Party! They’ve really got their finger on the pulse of the American electorate right now. We’ve now entered day 3 of the government shutdown. The midnight deadline on October 1 came and went without a 7-week stopgap resolution being passed to keep the federal government open. The Senate has since voted several times to resolve this and every time most Democrats have dug their heels in and voted against the measure. Usually Republicans are five short of the 60 votes necessary to end this madness. TSA agents, firefighters, military personnel, government workers, and other essential workers are now not getting paid unless Republicans agree to Democrats demand for $1.5 trillion in spending on wildly popular items like Obamacare for illegal aliens and sex change surgeries for toddlers.
Democrats are lying about the Obamacare subsidies for illegal aliens, of course. And the sex change surgeries for toddlers. And everything else. As the old saying goes, “If their lips are moving…”
The Big Lie that the Democrats are pushing about Schumer’s Shutdown is that “Illegal aliens can’t even sign up for Medicaid. That’s crazy talk!”
Every Democrat is parroting some version of that right now, and it is false.
A new law went into effect in California on January 1, 2024. Gavin Newsom made every illegal alien, regardless of age, eligible for Medi-Cal, the state’s version of Medicaid. Every illegal alien in the state was allowed to sign up for Obamacare subsidized health insurance. Medi-Cal is administered by the state of California, but up to 90% of funding for adults with Obamacare subsidies in the program comes from federal tax dollars.
That’s how illegal aliens get “free” healthcare under Obamacare.
California isn’t the only blue state that’s been doing this. Oregon, Washington, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Colorado, Maine, Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Vermont do the same thing with their state-administered programs. Even Washington, DC, the nation’s capital, allows illegal aliens to sign up for Obamacare-subsidized health insurance. And for reasons that no conservative will ever understand, so does the red state of Utah.
This is a massive problem that is far bigger than most Americans even realize. It’s a problem that was fixed when the One Big Beautiful Bill was passed and signed into law. Which is a fight that the Democrats already lost.
Like every other stunt the Democrats are pulling these days, the Schumer Shutdown is extremely unpopular with the American voters. The New York Times/Siena ran a poll from September 22-27. They asked whether voters support the Democrats shutting down the federal government.
92% of Republicans don’t support the Schumer Shutdown. No surprise there. 59% of Independents oppose the Schumer Shutdown. The real surprise, however, is that 43% of Democrats don’t support the Schumer Shutdown. Almost half of the Democrats’ base doesn’t support the shutdown!
Nearly a supermajority of Americans—65%—are opposed to the Schumer Shutdown.
What’s amazing is that the Democrats have completely failed to land a glove on President Trump at all during his second term. They can’t find one issue that will help them gain ground with the American voters. There’s also no possible way they can win this fight.
The fake news media is not going to change one person’s opinion about the Schumer Shutdown. Jimmy Kimmel will cry in front of his make-believe audience and nothing will change. Republicans are finally, after 16 years, on the verge of defunding a huge portion of Obamacare. They’re not going to budge, so the longer the Schumer Shutdown lasts, the more damage it’s going to do to the Democrats’ tarnished image.
Plus, imagine how hilarious it’s going to be when President Trump starts firing huge numbers of federal workers, as he’s promised to do. Please start with the IRS, Mr. President! In fact, this is the perfect opportunity to replace the IRS with the External Revenue Service you’ve been promising us!
Some dummy on CNN claimed that the demands Democrats are making in the Schumer Shutdown are “actually quite popular.”
Really? Sex changes for toddlers and Obamacare for illegal aliens? In what universe are those popular?!
We’ve given up trying to figure out how the Democrats continue to misfire at every level. It’s as if they’re trying to make themselves more unpopular by the day. Every day that the Schumer Shutdown lasts is an easy layup victory for Republicans, the American people, and the Trump administration. Keep it up, Chuck!
