After Democrats repeatedly called walls immoral and racist, Washington, D.C., officials announced plans to build a permanent security fence around the U.S. Capitol. The stark irony is not a shot at D.C. security. The District certainly needs security improvements following the January 6 riots. The problem is with claiming a wall will work when it’s personal, but not when it’s political.
Walls aren’t perfect, but they do help. From the Great Wall of China to a fence around farm livestock, physical barriers have been used as a measure of protection since the dawn of human civilization. Following the U.S. Capitol events of January 6, lawmakers were understandably seeking added security measures, including a fence to provide a physical barrier from potential intruders.
But if we travel to the nation’s southern border a wall suddenly won’t work? Why not? Because Trump supported it? Apparently, that’s the best response Democrats have.
They can clearly no longer use the money excuse. Democrats can hardly claim a wall is too expensive when Biden is signing executive orders to fund international abortions and just sent a $1.9 TRILLION stimulus package to Congress.
And don’t forget that Republicans had already budgeted the funding for the border wall. 450 miles of it was completed when President Trump left office.
Can we just take that little fence around the U.S. Capitol, move it about 2,000 miles southwest, and extend it out a little longer? Then we would not only be protecting our lawmakers; we would actually be protecting the nation’s 330-million-plus citizens.
In just one administration, we’ve moved from an American First presidency that stood for its citizens to a “me first” presidency where lawmakers care only about protecting themselves, both physically and politically. Remember, President Trump sent National Guard troops to the nation’s southern border. Biden sent them to Washington and then stuck them in a parking garage after the camera crews left.
Biden should be less worried about a so-called insurrection and pay more attention to what his officials are now calling regional migration. With 1,000-plus migrants headed toward America before President Biden had even been sworn into office, what do you think will happen six months or two years from now?
And it’s not like Democrats are going to stop and deport illegal immigrants once they enter the nation. Part of their progressive immigration reform package are plans to turn at least 11 million “undocumented” residents into citizens. For Democrats, illegal immigrants aren’t a problem; they’re a voting block they need to succeed in future elections.
Instead of deportation, the plan is to make them citizens so they can vote for more horrendous leftist policies like those in the nations they left. But Democrats may eventually create a Jurassic-Park like monster they can no longer control no matter what fence they build. Our nation needs a real legal process for handling immigration and securing its borders or we are all going to need to build fences around our homes.
