Americans are unfortunately getting a firsthand look at what blazing Democrat Party incompetence looks like this week, as Los Angeles burns to the ground. Los Angeles is now surrounded by catastrophic fires in the wintertime. The fire hydrants don’t have any water in them. Thousands of people have lost their homes, several people have been killed, and more than 130,000 have been evacuated as of this writing.
Mike Cernovich has a great idea for the incoming Trump administration. Forget about Canada. The federal government needs to take over California.
President Trump talks about the California water situation every time he’s on TV these days. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has been in office for six years. California voters passed a bond prop in 2014 to spend $7.5 billion building new water infrastructure. Nothing has been built in the past 11 years, with Newsom in charge for six of those years.
When firefighters arrived in the hillside community of Pacific Palisades, there was no water in the fire hydrants. This was the result:

The median home price in Pacific Palisades is $3.7 million. Lots of homes there are worth $15 to $20 million. State Farm canceled every homeowner’s policy in Pacific Palisades several weeks ago, because the Newsom administration wouldn’t allow them to raise rates to protect against catastrophic wildfires.
Their nightmare is only beginning. The people who lost their homes are about to start running into California’s environmentalist regulatory wall when they try to rebuild. As Adam Corolla noted from his hotel after he was forced to evacuate, “All these people who are deep blue Democrats are now going to have to pull a permit to rebuild, and they’re going to get the 28-year-old b*tch from the Coastal Commission telling them to go f*** off and then they’re going to vote for Trump or whoever’s Trumpian next.”
Even if they can afford to rebuild without insurance, these people are in for some nasty surprises. They had their in-ground swimming pools built for $15,000 several decades ago when they bought the house. It will cost around $500,000 this time because California has imposed so many environmental regulations. They’re also looking at about a three-year slog to get through the permitting process before they’ll be allowed to rebuild.
No one is able to come up with a viable way to blame Donald Trump for this. He’s been out of office for four years. This catastrophe is owned entirely by people like Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who was formerly a Representative in the US Congress. Bass was in Africa partying when her city started burning to the ground. She cut $17 million from the LA Fire Department’s budget last year to provide more benefits to illegal aliens. She also fired 117 firefighters for refusing to take the COVID shots.
Joe Biden showed up in L.A. this week. Not to view the fire damage or to encourage people who had just lost everything, but because his first great-grandchild was born. All the air traffic in L.A. was grounded for Biden’s visit. For several hours, aircrews were unable to drop retardant on the fires and they got even more out of control. Congrats to Biden on the new great-grandbaby—but people’s homes burned to the ground because of that visit.
So, how can President Trump clean up a mess this gargantuan?
Cernovich says there’s a case to be made under the 14th Amendment that the federal government can usurp authority from California’s state government. Californians are paying the highest state income taxes in the country and their government is doing nothing for them in return. They can’t even keep water in the fire hydrants. It’s like a Third World country.
Trump could appoint a czar to clean up California’s dirty elections. Cut through the red tape so people can rebuild their homes faster. Manage the forests better. Build some water infrastructure. Kick out all the sanctuaried illegal aliens to ease the pressure on housing prices. Once some of the damage from all these years of mismanagement is corrected, we can see about whether California will be allowed to be a real state again. Because right now, it’s not.
