Gas prices have risen exponentially since Easter, and it is set to hurt the pockets of those traveling to celebrate Memorial Day as prices are rumored to be much higher this weekend.
According to data from AAA, the national average for gas per gallon is sitting at $4.596 and in heavily taxed and Democrat states like California, price per gallon is above $6.
President Joe Biden says he is going to do something about it, but his administration got America in this mess in the first place when his first Executive Order was shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline.
During a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Biden said in a press conference that somehow the rising costs of fuel and living costs is somehow a good thing.
“[When] it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger, and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over.”
Drilling new oil fields is also still restricted, despite White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki insisting there are many permits already given that haven’t been utilized – what she doesn’t say is that there is no oil in those locations, otherwise it would have already been drilled.
In the same press conference, Biden also admitted the American economy is currently suffering from “problems.” Biden also said that it is going to be “a haul” and will “take some time” for the economy to recover.
Some are seeing an agenda behind the praise of rising fuel costs as a push toward electric vehicles and question whether this was done deliberately to usher in the radical green policies of the Democrats.
One of the administration’s biggest goals is to get everyone into electric vehicles, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine has put the focus on oil supply and the need to remain energy independent.
Texas Republican Congressional candidate, Wesley Hunt said: “Allow me to translate this: The Biden Administration is prepared to let your family suffer economically to advance their climate agenda. It’s a ‘transition,’ alright. A transition into poverty. This is socialism.”
Buying an expensive electric vehicle is out of reach for most Americans, especially when you consider the increasing cost of living – a Tesla is probably not going to happen.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz told Fox News, “He’s in Tokyo celebrating, saying ‘it’s an incredible transition,”
“Incredible for you! You fly a damn 747 where the taxpayers pay for your jet fuel. What Joe Biden is saying is, if you are at home, if you drive a pickup truck, ‘to hell with you; you can’t drive your pickup truck. If you have a Suburban, you’ve got to get rid of that. We’re all getting Toyota Priuses.’” He added.
This doesn’t just affect the fuel industry, however, if Americans opt to stay home this weekend – restaurants, bars, motels and hotels will also feel it after already taking a huge hit during the pandemic restrictions.
