GOP Reps Move to Get Trump Allies Out of Jail Over Fake J6 Committee Subpoenas

If you’ve been paying close attention to the news for the past three years, you probably have a sneaking suspicion that we’re in the middle of a revolutionary communist coup right now.

Joe Biden has jailed more of his political opponents on non-charges than any previous White House occupant in history. Some GOP Reps in the House have come up with what should prove to be an easy victory for their party, which would spring Trump advisor Peter Navarro from prison and prevent Steve Bannon from going in the first place.

The question is whether the House leadership will have the courage to do it.

Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Eric Burlison (R-MO) have put forward a resolution to rescind the subpoenas that the Liz Cheney January 6 Committee sent to Navarro, Bannon, Mark Meadows, and Dan Scavino. All four Trump advisors defied the subpoenas from Liz Cheney.

The Democrat-controlled House then voted to hold them in contempt and the Justice Department prosecuted Bannon and Navarro.

The DOJ declined to prosecute Scavino and Meadows. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

Ironically, Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland has now defied a congressional subpoena and been found in Contempt of Congress—and the DOJ is refusing to charge him.

The argument for rescinding the subpoenas from the January 6 Committee is simple. It was never a legitimate committee in the first place, so any subpoenas it sent are moot. Therefore, Bannon and Navarro cannot be imprisoned for defying illegitimate subpoenas from a fake committee.

Let’s recap how this fake committee was formed.

The day after the mostly peaceful January 6 protests, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer vowed to do whatever it takes to get President Trump out of office. Pelosi even called Trump an “accessory to murder.”

On January 13, 2021, every House Democrat and ten weak “Republicans” voted to impeach President Trump over January 6. When Trump was exonerated and found completely innocent in the Senate, Pelosi turned her efforts to creating the fake Liz Cheney Committee.

On June 30, every House Democrat, along with Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, voted to pass HR 503 to establish the January 6 Select Committee. The resolution, as passed, stated that the “Speaker shall appoint 13 members to the Select Committee.” Pelosi was to select eight members of the committee, and five were to be chosen by the minority Republicans.

To his credit, then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) tried to appoint five solid, pro-Trump conservatives to the committee. His list included guys like Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN), who were both opposed to certifying the stolen 2020 election. Pelosi pitched a conniption fit.

She managed to pull herself away from a fresh box of Franzia long enough to reject all five of McCarthy’s choices. Instead, she selected Liz Cheney as one of her eight appointees and put the crying, deeply effeminate Adam Kinzinger on the committee as the sole “Republican.”

Instead of building up a bipartisan committee of 13 members, as the resolution passed by Congress required, Pelosi put together an illegitimate, non-partisan committee of nine with no minority representation on it.

Under House Rule XI, every congressional committee is required to allow equal time for majority and minority members to ask alternating questions. Pelosi and the Democrats gave the Liz Cheney Committee an exemption from Rule XI, so none of the people who testified before the committee were ever asked a contrary question from any Republican who disbelieved the fake “insurrection” narrative about January 6.

The committee was so rigged against Donald Trump and his allies that you’d think it was a Manhattan courtroom.

This would be such an incredibly easy win for House Republicans. Just rescind the subpoenas and then spring Peter Navarro from prison and prevent Steve Bannon from being imprisoned. It would be wildly popular with Trump voters. It doesn’t cost anything.

And that’s why they’re not going to do it, isn’t it? To pass a resolution nullifying the January 6 Committee subpoenas would require House Speaker Mike Johnson to not be a flaming sissy for five minutes. I’m not sure he’s capable of that.

It would also require the votes of every House Republican to pass. It would be great for the morale of Republican voters and an easy symbolic victory over the Democrats. But if history is any guide, that’s not the Republican Party’s specialty these days.

  1. THE QUESTION THAT I WOULD LIKE ANSWERED IS HOW PIGLOSI WAS ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH HER BULLSHIT IN THE FIRST PLACE, UNLESS THE REDUMBLICANS WERE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF SORRY ASS ENABLERS TO START WITH. ALLIGATOR MOUTHS AND CANARY ASSES AND NO BALLS.

  2. As sad as the attempt to impeachTrump by piglosi was, GOP didn’t stop her then, I seriously doubt GOP will be strong enough now to do anything.

  3. Just grow some, and set them free. They don’t deserve to be in prison any more than Trump did.
