Most Americans don’t even know what US immigration law says. The government has abused our immigration system to the detriment of the American people for so long that many have forgotten that we have these laws in place. A foreign-born Communist named Zohran Mamdani, who only showed up in the US a few years ago, is somehow about to become the mayor of New York City next week. People just shrug and think, “Well, I guess that must be legal if they’re allowing it to happen.” It’s not legal. And some GOP congressmen are starting to point this out.
Two Republicans in the House of Representatives are calling on the Justice Department to probe Mamdani’s path to citizenship, and to deport him if he broke our immigration laws. Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) says there has been so much abuse of the system that the DOJ needs to review everyone who became a naturalized “citizen” in the past 30 years.
“I just think we need to take a hard look at how these folks became citizens, and if there is any fraud or any violation of the rules we need to denaturalize and deport,” says Rep. Fine. He says the DOJ should start with Mamdani.
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) has been calling for an investigation of Mamdani since June, when he won the Democrat primary in New York City. Ogles told Newsmax, “In 2018 when [Mamdani] was naturalized, he failed to disclose some of the things that he had been doing, one of which was joining the [Democratic] Socialists of America. That’s a communist organization which, quite frankly, at that time, would have disqualified him from becoming a United States citizen.”
Ogles and Fine are 100% correct. You cannot, under existing black-letter immigration law, become a US citizen if you’ve been a member of a Communist or any other authoritarian regime. It says so in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA § 313), and that has been the law since the 1960s. The law applies whether the immigrant has been in the Communist Party or any other regime that is foreign or domestic.
Under existing immigration law, Mamdani should have had his green card stripped away and he should have been deported the moment that he joined the Democrat Socialists of America. That’s what the law says. But because the immigration bureaucrats at the INS rubber-stamp every hostile foreigner who applies for citizenship, it never gets enforced.
When a foreigner applies for citizenship, the form that they fill out explicitly asks whether they have ever been associated “in any way” with “any Communist or totalitarian party anywhere in the world.”
This impacts people from about a dozen countries around the world, but most people don’t know it. Communists or people who belong to an authoritarian party cannot become US citizens if they’re from China, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Laos, Vietnam, Angola, Belarus, or Mozambique.
Joe Biden shuttled more than a million people into the country from Nicaragua and Venezuela in four years and granted them temporary protected status (TPS). They didn’t vet any of those people to find out whether they were members of the Maduro regime in Venezuela or the Ortega regime in Nicaragua. As far as we know, they could all be Communists. And the Democrats want to put them all on a path to US citizenship.
“I’m proud to be a Democratic Socialist,” Mamdani declared in a recent interview.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are actually to the left of the Communist Party USA. The Communist Party has actually moderated its platform in recent years, and wants to achieve its goals at the ballot box. That’s not what Mamdani’s Democratic Socialist group wants!
The DSA wants to completely abolish capitalism. Mamdani’s party wants to seize all private property, which the Communist Canadian government has just begun doing. The DSA wants to nationalize entire industries, including finance, healthcare, real estate, utilities, manufacturing, technology, and media. They want “free abortion on demand,” and they want to “de-carbonize” the entire US economy within 10 years.

Mamdani is proud to be a member of that party. In other words, he lied on his application to become a US citizen. He broke the law. The federal government is supposed to deport people like this. The Department of Justice has not yet commented on whether it’s looking into Mamdani’s crimes. The election for New York City Mayor is next week.
