If you think the Green New Deal championed by the far left sounds pretty far out there, you are not alone.
One of the founders of Greenpeace is particularly outspoken about the plan, which has been heralded by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Patrick Moore is one of the founding members of the Greenpeace organization, and has been increasingly concerned about the Green New Deal. He recently spoke with Fox news and outlined the parts of the deal that he finds so troubling.
The End of Civilization as We Know It
Moore did not mince words when speaking about the Green New Deal program. The plan to phase out coal, oil and natural gas over the next decade would lead to food and humanitarian crises around the world and devastate most of the population, according to Moore. The plan calls for replacing about 85% of the world’s energy sources, but does not really say what these sources will be replaced with.
“We do not have anything to replace them with,” Moore told Fox News. “Yes, if we went into a crash course of building nuclear reactors, we could replace them for producing electricity, but that isn’t going to happen because the Greens are against nuclear and they are even against hydroelectric dams which at least is renewable. But they don’t support that either.”
According to Moore, the left is opposed to almost 100 percent of the types of energy and fuel that the world needs to function. Getting rid of those sources would halt most transportation, including trucks, ships and planes. It would also render leave most households without power for refrigeration, heating and cooling and other basic needs.
Food is at the Heart of the Issue
Moore’s largest concern is food. While food can be harvested on a small scale without energy (you can simply pick a tomato from your own garden, provided you have one), you can’t feed millions of people without energy.
“You don’t have a plan to feed eight billion people without fossil fuels or get the food into the cities where it’s needed,” Moore added.
Moore highlighted the need for large trucks to haul tons of foods to supermarkets on a regular basis, from farms to stores. Many people living in more urban areas think food comes from the supermarket, according to Moore, but the reality is the food we eat relies on fossil fuels for planting, cultivation, harvesting and delivery.
“And if we ban fossil fuels, first agricultural production would collapse in a very short period of time. There are these things called tractors and they use fuel, and all the other implements on the farm and then there is the transportation,” Moore explained.
How do you get food to Manhattan, where Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex lives, without power? You don’t, according to Moore.
“Then the people there will begin to starve, and that will spread out as a rot from the center of the metropolises all across the country and half the population will die in a very short period of time,” the Greenpeace co-founder concluded.
Moore also spoke out about other aspects of the deal, which he feels would lead to deforestation and tree death throughout the USA in a short period of time.

i don’t think aoc’s plan is not well thought out except to destroy liberty and freedom in the USA.death by starvation is not a pretty site.and aoc is not going to starve coming from a wealthy family it will be the two groups that aoc and democrats say they are concerned with the poor and middle class are the ones that will be dying in droves.
There’s just simply no getting through to the propagandized skulls full of mush coming out of our schools and colleges. 6 hrs of teaching manure to kids can’t be easily outweighed by parents who are forced to work 70 and 80 hrs a week to make ends meet. What a country.
We need to do what the left will not do , read the Bible. God put man in dominion over all the earth, we are to use all things wisely, the non use of what God put under our control is not in His plan.
He doesn’t carry it far enough . Without fuel you have no car . No car or truck or motorcycle ( you get the drift ) no wat to work . No work because it takes trucks to bring your stuff to make your products and to take off your finished products . As for food there are no less than 8 trucks envolved in food production not counting the marching to plow and plant .This is even before you can buy it at a store that you can’t get to without a vehicle and it wouldn’t matter anyway because you wouldn’t have a job to earn money to pay for it . That’s providing that you made it through the winter without heat . And if you did that would mean you had food stored and live in a state it is still legal to have a wood burning stove . And when you get through with that you realize that our enemies that are not bound by the stupid Green Deal that still have vehicles come here on American dool to take it over . Laughing all the way at the stupidity of Americans . Who allowed a moron to get by with a stupid thing like this ! N.
I totally agree with Mr. Moore. When I heard about the Green New Deal, I thought “Wow, I wonder how all the people would be fed.” Where do they come up with all the stupid people that are getting elected in our country. Most of them don’t even know where our food comes from. They think that it just appears in their supermarkets.
I think the next time AOC says another word about not using fossil fuel have her ride her bicycle from her home in NY to D.C. This is the only way she will keep warm since the house she is living in is no longer heated because of her non use of fossil fuel. It’s been a nice winter in NY this year hasn’t it, this global warming is great.

Climate Change is real. It’s been going on for 4 Billion years. We are still here and will be in the next 12 years. Even if the ice all melts it will only affect the coast lines a small amount. Carbon is loved by plants and science have now found ways to take it out of the atmosphere and replenish the depleted soil to advance agriculture and produce more food for the world. All the rest is just Fake Science and Fake news. The Democrats have totally lost all common sense and are completely crazy. Who would vote Demon crat except the mentally insane.

The extreme results of the Green New Deal sound like a horrible nightmare! Has AOC (a wacko if I ever heard of one!) any plan for feeding and clothing the world with her exuberant (and NUTTY) plan!? I don’t think we’ll ever be able to run electric trains (or maybe nuclear power) over the oceans. If the world population is reduced to a few dozen who live in the tropics, maybe they will be able to keep themselves alive! In the meantime, I hope she takes a minute to consider the true results of her nutty day dream.
Cut government spending across the board; local, state and federal. Get off the backs of the working people. Support your local church. Help people to think about other people and not just about themselves. Help people to learn how to save and invest in companies of their choice. Give money on a regular basis, to your company to use for their business. This is the way that you obtain wealth. This is how Capitalism got its name.
