Hollywood’s Terrorist Threats to the President: Criminal or Free Speech?

Entertainment figures, academics, liberal pundits, and other opponents of Donald Trump have been advocating violence against our new president, his supporters- and acting out violence against his supporters for months.

Madonna publicly supported “blowing up the White House.” Sarah Silverman has called for a military coup d’etat on Twitter, and the “Love Trumps Hate” movement was rife with threats of violence both online and in the streets of Washington DC during the weekend after the inauguration.

B-List actors have said during major Hollywood events that they should, “punch some people in the face,” simply for disagreeing with their politics. Worse, many real acts of violence have been acted out against Trump supporters both actual and perceived.

We won’t soon forget the young, developmentally disabled, man in Chicago who was tortured on Facebook live for hours while his assailants called him racial epithets and shouted “F-ck Trump.” The media was characteristically silent about the indecent with the exception of a few segments expressing doubt as to whether the event was actually a hate crime. This, coming from people who are usually eager to name acts of violence as hate crimes, struck a sour note with many Americans.

The most recent expression of undiluted hatred not only for Donald Trump, but his supporters as well to come out of Hollywood comes in the form of a Snoop Dog rap video in which noticeable white suburban families, police officers, and the President are all portrayed as churlish and unpleasant clowns.

The video begins painting an unbecoming portrait of a white middle-class family getting ready for their day. The father figure, and everyone else is in clown makeup and bears a sneering and intemperate attitude. The man drives his car to work, is stopped by a police officer, also in clown face, who ends up shooting the man while glitter sprays out of the driver side window.

The lyrics of the Snoop Dog “song” portray horrific acts of violence, including letting people be eaten by dogs- and lots, and lots of suggestions of gun violence. At the end of the video, Snoop Dog is standing next to a man, wrapped in chains, in clown face who is clearly meant to represent Donald Trump. In a staggering display of insubtlety, Snoop holds a gun to the Trump clown’s head and fires.

This mock assassination of our President isn’t surprising coming from Snoop Dogg as he was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton during the campaigns, what’s also not surprising is a rapper promoting gun violence. But it is ironic considering Snoop Dogg has also been a vocal anti-gun supporter over the past several years, even filming PSA’s encouraging others to put down guns altogether.

It has been noted by many in the independent and conservative media that the torture of the disabled teen in Chicago would not have been possible without widespread misrepresentation in the media of Trump’s message and his supporters.

They blame the longstanding message from the media, for the normalization of violence against whites. High-profile liberals and academia have long pushed the message that all white people share in the responsibility for slavery, black poverty, and police brutality against blacks.

The liberal race baiting agenda has produced deceptively edited news clips where black conservatives are not seen or heard. We have been subjected to an ongoing onslaught of messages intimating that all white people are inherently racist whether they espouse racist views or not. All of this, conservatives argue, sends a clear message that violence and bigotry aimed at whites is acceptable, even praiseworthy.

Snoop Dog’s latest music video is just another example of how we are being told that violence against whites- and particularly against Trump supporters- is not a crime. The case of the responsibility of the liberal agenda for the torture of the disabled Chicago man is strong. If then, this type of messaging is not sanctioned and condemned by the mainstream media, are we not paving the way for the next high profile hate crime against whites?

What is most irksome is the fact that if the races of the characters in the video were reversed, the media would be crying hate speech. If a black family was unlovingly portrayed in a music video, followed by the representation of Barack Obama being executed- wearing any kind of unflattering makeup at all- were foisted on the public for consumption by children- the main stream media would have a feeding frenzy.

They would cry ‘racism.’ They would cry ‘hate speech.’ They would use every ounce of their influence to shame and degrade the author of any such images. But you will never see any such message. Conservatives simply do not harbor that level of hatred of their political opponents.

But when it’s whites, or Trump, it’s okay.

For the record, we here at American Liberty Report condemn this video- and all irresponsible promotions of violence everywhere and at all times- regardless of the agenda behind it.
