Homeless Pacific Palisades Fire Victims Fined for Not Pulling Weeds on Their Empty Lots

Remember when the newly reelected President Donald Trump visited Pacific Palisades back in late January? Trump held a roundtable with California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Newsom and Bass bragged about how awesome and resilient they were, and how the recovery was going to be so fast, it would make your head spin. The recovery was going to be a monumental effort like the Marshal Plan to rebuild Europe after World War II—but California-style, baby! How’s it going ten months later?

The fires flared up on January 7, 2025, and destroyed the homes of more than 13,000 families. The American refugees were crammed into temporary shelters. It’s tough to find temporary housing for Americans after the Biden regime allowed 5,000 illegal aliens into the country every day for four years straight. Go figure.

On July 7, Bass and Newsom held a six-month remembrance to commemorate the fires. About two-thirds of the lots had the debris cleared from them, but no rebuilding had started. Only a handful of families had managed to claw their way through mountains of red tape to obtain a rebuilding permit by then. Newsom and Bass promised to “accelerate the recovery.”

In October, a limited amount of rebuilding had finally started. Some homeowners had already sold their barren lots by this time out of desperation, for pennies on the dollar compared to the homes they’d lost. Local leaders held events to highlight the recovery efforts. Newsom and Bass didn’t show up for any of those events.

Many of the displaced families are still battling with the insurance companies. The average home price in Pacific Palisades was $3.7 million. Some companies have capped payments at $1 million. People who lost $20 million mansions say their insurance is only offering $5 to $7 million to rebuild. That’s got to be nice to hear when you’re renting a crappy apartment in gang territory in Chino.

As of November, ten months after the fires, nearly 10,000 of those families are still in temporary housing. Some have managed to find apartments, but their temporary housing allowance under their homeowners’ insurance will run out in January. In a report this week, Fox News pointed out that 75% of the Pacific Palisades homeowners are still in temporary housing, along with 67% of Altadena homeowners, 43% of Malibu homeowners, and 15% of Pasadena folks.

This is apparently what it looks like when Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass “accelerate the recovery.”

Newsom and Bass had insisted all these months that the fires were caused by Global Warming. In October, the Trump administration arrested Global Warming, who turned out to be a 29-year-old Uber driver who allegedly set the fires on January 1st.

Whistleblowers from the Los Angeles Fire Department have now come forward to state that the lesbian Fire Chief appointed by Karen Bass had ignored their warnings during the Lachman Fire cleanup. They say they tried to warn leadership about the risk of a flareup from embers in the area, and that the Pacific Palisades disaster could have been prevented. The Trump administration has empaneled a federal grand jury to subpoena the LAFD.

Just when you thought the situation couldn’t get any more insulting to the people who lost their homes, they’ve started receiving an unwanted surprise in the mail. The city has begun mailing the fire victims $750 fines for not pulling the weeds on their barren lots in Pacific Palisades.

Liberal Communists like Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom live in a fantasyland. They purport to be battling problems that don’t exist, like “systemic racism” and “Global Warming.” But when a real crisis hits, they don’t have the brainpower to solve a problem. Simple, practical solutions to problems are beyond their mental capacity.

Construction projects in northern states like Wisconsin are about to shut down for the winter. There’s a shortage of construction workers in California. Why not bring those guys to California as temp workers for the next few months? But Bass and Newsom haven’t even suggested any creative solutions to the problem like that. They’re too dumb.

Sadly, in the latest polling this week, Gavin Newsom has pulled ahead. He is now the preferred frontrunner among Democrats for the 2028 presidential nomination. As Newsom’s “leadership” on the Pacific Palisades recovery has proven, that would be a catastrophe for America. He’s like the dictator who would have your dad executed over a Facebook post and then send your family a bill for the bullets used by the firing squad.
