A Maryland district judge ruled last week to ban court employees from apparel with thin blue line designs that show support for law enforcement.
Chief Judge John P. Morrissey sent an email to all court employees stating, “The Judiciary must maintain itself as an unbiased and independent branch of Maryland state government.”
Morrissey added, “Employees of the District Court wearing any clothing item or apparel which promotes or displays a logo, sticker, pin, patch, slogan, or sign which may be perceived as showing bias or favoritism to a particular group of people could undermine the District Court’s mission of fair, efficient, and effective justice for all and call into question the Judiciary’s obligation to remain impartial and unbiased.”
The order applies to all bailiffs, commissioners, clerks, and judges at 34 district court sites throughout the state.
Why the ban? Proponents of the actions claim the thin blue line is associated with white supremacist groups.
Maryland Public Defender Paul DeWolfe wrote May 4 the thin blue line “has been adopted by the ‘Blue Lives Matter’ movement, which launched in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, and has been associated at times with white supremacist groups.”
Just a year ago, Democrat Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan showed support for the blue line matter flag. He said, “We are proud to hang these Thin Blue Line flags in Government House to honor our brave law enforcement officers.”
What now? Is Maryland’s Democrat governor a white supremacist for supporting law enforcement? Hardly. The ridiculous logic argues that supporting law enforcement is racist, which is about as far from truth as possible.
How many of America’s police force consists of non-white members? Thousands. I’m sure all of the nation’s black and Hispanic and other ethnic police officers appreciate support from those in their communities. They would not see thin blue line clothing as racism, but as supportive.
Instead, it’s today’s extreme leftist social justice warriors who want to defund the police. Of course, if they’re in an emergency, they will call 911 just like the rest of America. The left loves police during an emergency, but not when it’s convenient for their political agenda.
What if we flipped the script and required those working in the state’s courts to wear a symbol supporting law enforcement? That would be more acceptable than to ban it. Every judge and court employee is dependent upon law enforcement for their work. They could not even operate without law enforcement bringing people in and out of court while offering protection for court employees.
Let’s not get caught up in the nonsense of calling everything racist. If we can’t support our police or our military, who can we support? These are the people who put their lives on the line for our safety every day, including in the communities where we live.
We should be looking for ways to honor law enforcement, not to disrespect them. We should hope that more Americans will wear thin blue line apparel and support other efforts to show support for our law enforcement. It’s the least we can do to say thanks.

Tax dollars should be going toward things like roads, bridges, and education. Murphy, however, is a bleeding-heart liberal. He acknowledges that there were some who were unable to secure state or federal relief during the COVID-19 crisis. Since the Biden administration has proven that they’re all about helping illegal immigrants, they believe that they have rights – so much so that they created a hunger strike where they demanded stimulus checks. People who are in the country illegally are making demands of the country where they have broken immigration laws. How does this make any sense? Oh, wait…we’re dealing with a Democratic-run government at the moment. Common sense flew out the window on Inauguration Day Part of the problem is that those in New Jersey are looking at what’s being done for those in New York. Just across the state border, Andrew Cuomo has screwed taxpayers so much so that illegal aliens are getting approximately $15,600 in aid if they can prove that they were ineligible for state and federal aid. That little gift is costing taxpayers a total of $2.1 billion Well, if illegal aliens in New York can get that, illegal aliens in New Jersey should get at least $2,000 in stimulus checks (per household),

With these types of orders he should not be on the bench as it shows that he wants to be a demi-god and will not support LAW enforcement. I guess if we have no law enforcement, then why do we even need any judges especially ones like this POS.

It is far past time that those who make this crazy claim regarding “white supremacist” be made to cite such groups by name and the proof of what makes any organization a white supremacist one and with a requirement for hard copy proof. It will take them light years to answer such a demand. Are all the movements calling for segregation of college dorms, schools, classes keeping blacks away from whites BLACK SUPREMACISTS? I think so.
