It’s often a good idea to pause for a moment and define the terms we commonly use, because there is no longer any liberal party in the United States.
Liberalism, originally, was the idea that people should be left alone, not be stolen from, molested, unduly attacked, maligned, or forced to utter untruths. In America today, ideas like that are associated with conservatism and libertarianism. Today, expressing those ideas will get you banned from college campuses, fired from your job, blocked on Twitter, and maced by Antifa.
Today’s leftist is not a liberal — there is absolutely nothing liberal about them. They are totalitarian, mob-like, pro-censorship, pro-police state, power-worshiping cry bullies.
We’ve seen it again and again with slogans like “I bathe in male tears,” “all white people are racists,” “American was never great,” and so on. We are dealing with a whole class of people who wish to label everyone who holds different political views to them as Nazis deserving whatever violence comes to them.
Sadly, we’ve been saying this regularly for quite some time now. We cannot help but be shocked every time we see the unbelievable bloodymindedness of the modern left. But when an example like this one raises its head, we have to spread the word.
Earlier this month, a student organization at Iowa State University made it clear that they believe it is not only acceptable to murder capitalists, but that it is to be encouraged. That is disgusting on its own, but what makes this story worthy of building a complete diatribe around is the fact that the university’s administration did not condemn the statement — neither did they ignore it — but they went out of their way to support it.
The original message came in the form of a tweet. It read;
“The left has done a good job radicalizing juggalos, weebs, furries, but I will not rest until ‘hXc’ stands for hang+Xterminate capitalists.”
The tweet has been deleted, but the Internet never forgets.
Fortunately, for posterity and for an education in the ideology of modern left, which we all sorely require, the faculty responded in support before the student group could withdraw the message. They promptly tweeted;
“This falls under free speech. Resources available if you feel threatened or harassed.”
It is a truly chilling statement by a governing body, offering ‘resources’ to a group advocating for violence against a whole class of people.
While we do agree that this group does have a right to free speech, and we certainly do not want people with violent tendencies to be forced underground where we will not hear from them until it is too late, the college administration should know better than to offer them ‘resources’ if they ‘feel’ threatened or harassed.
The group, known as the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA), has a history of advocating for violence. In late September, they tweeted, “COMRADES: stay away from needle drugs! The only dope worth shooting is in the oval office [right now].”
If anything could be said in defense of these statements and the YDSA, it is that they are adolescent in character. They appear to be the products of a fevered youthful mindset flush with the excitement of a militant idea. Such feelings have activated green and immature minds since the beginning of time. But in an era when groups like Antifa are actively assaulting people on the street for wearing red hats, and when they have been caught on tape trying to pay for deadly weapons to be moved to a rally, we cannot just shrug rhetoric like this off.
It’s interesting to note that the response tweet from the college did not say they would protect the group if they were harassed or threatened. They offered support if they only ‘feel’ they have been harassed or threatened. This is important because it has been a core mission of the left to conflate words with violence. If they can make you believe that words are violence, then they can appear to be justified when they move to silence their political opponents.
Not only that, but if they can get you to believe that being made to ‘feel’ something is violence, they then will have the power to take violent action against you.
