Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz said the COVID pandemic has shown a light on the leadership of the Democrat Party and revealed them for what they really are, “jackbooted thugs.”
Cruz went on to say that there is no aspect of your life so small or personal that they will not try to control it. While it’s nice to hear this sentiment growing in popularity, it’s certainly not something new to pro-freedom ideology.
For those concerned about making their own healthcare decisions, this is sadly nothing new. Democrats have been vying for control over our personal decisions since the Obama Administration. The best-known piece of legislation for that era was the Affordable Care Act, which led to skyrocketing healthcare costs as well as a rampant wave of corruption from insurance providers.
Now, we’ve moved on to a new level of nanny state governance. Forget the debate between free market healthcare and single-payer healthcare. The people in charge today want to dictate exactly which healthcare decisions you make for yourself. Don’t want the vaccine for COVID-19? Hopefully you don’t work for a company that employs over 100 people…
Fast forward to 2016, and we see a sharp intensification of the Democrats, and the Left in general, in demonizing their political opponent’s supporters. Anyone who did not believe the constant droning of the MSM that Trump was a racist monster became “deplorable,” racist, sexist, and every other “ist” on the list… which brings us to the canceling of Dr. Seuss.
Ted Cruz is not wrong about this. The so-called COVID crisis, (which is still far from the greatest cause of negative medical outcomes), has given democrats every excuse they have ever dreamed of to exert near-total control over your life, your body, your freedom of movement, your freedom to breathe freely, and even your ability to work. Joe Biden has said Americans will not be forced to take the vaccine, they just won’t be able to work or go to grocery stores if they don’t.
We don’t know how much more the American people can take before we abolish the democrat party altogether. Libertarians would make a decent replacement if Rand Paul is any measure of their merit. But the time will come soon when resisting the democrats will no longer be a mere piece of political styling. It will be a matter of life and death.
