Trump Criticized for Showing Compassion to Our Fallen Military

The latest distraction from the liberal media twists President Trump’s recent remarks to one of the fallen Green Berets in Niger into a childish discussion on racism and Vietnam. Meanwhile, the stock market continues its march past Dow 23,000, jobs are returning by the thousands to the heartland, and the Trump administration is rebuilding the United States military into the greatest force the world has ever seen once again.

It almost boggles the mind how anyone could take these distractions seriously, but it is always fun to break down liberal logic – just to see how the other side justifies its nonsense.

Somehow, when President Trump made a call to the family of a fallen Green Beret, the words, “he knew what he was getting himself into” caused an outrage over the entirety of mainstream media. Liberals in the media and on Capitol Hill alleged that President Trump had taken the office to a new low. Representatives boasted about how they had almost cursed out the president. Talking heads drew attention away from the tragedies in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Yet somehow, President Trump is the immature one in all of this.

Liberals even had the nerve to lie about President Trump dodging the Vietnam draft. That is their go to line – any conservative that they can’t take down, they call a draft dodger. This is the perspective they chose to take even though the President was backed by highly respected 4 star Marine general John F. Kelly.

As General Kelly said in his remarks before the press corps in the White House briefing room, the military is an elite class of people. In order to make it through training, you must showcase extraordinary amounts of discipline, selflessness and talent. This does not even begin to talk about the character traits that come out of our heroes during times of war. Green Berets are the best of the best. Soldiers who make it this far definitely know what they are signing up for.

A Green Beret is well aware that he may die in the service of his country, and is proud to do so. It is this fearlessness that allows him the ability to rise head and shoulders above his peers to the station of a Green Beret. He sees something greater than himself and is willing to give his life in defense of it.

There is another aspect of military training that many people do not like to talk about – the reality of death. A Green Beret knows better than anyone that the purpose of his station is to kill anyone who gets in his way. He knows that no enemy should be taken lightly, because they have been given the same orders by their captains.

What the rebuke of Trump’s remarks shows is a troubling disconnect between the military and the society that it protects. Perhaps it is time for the American populace to be reminded of the reality of war in some way. Otherwise, they will take the freedoms that our military gives to them for granted.

Yes, Green Berets know exactly what they are signing up for. Someone has to look reality in the face and not blink.

There is a reason that hippies and flower children, complete idealists, are always liberal. They must be. This is the only political distinction that allows the amount of separation away from reality that weak people require.

Conservatives understand what President Trump was trying to communicate to the family of the fallen Green Beret when he made the call. He was trying to honor their son – tell the family that their son was the only one who looked into the darkness of reality in full and didn’t shy away from it. This should be a source of pride, not a political tool to be weaponized against a sitting president.
