Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson decided to insult a crowd full of paying customers at a Tampa concert Sunday night for the unforgivable sin of chanting "U.S.A." — in Florida, in June, at a show on a tour literally called the "Southern Hospitality Tour." The hospitality, it turns out, only goes one direction.
Read that again. A nearly 60-year-old rock star on a tour named after Southern charm told a Southern audience that loving their country was embarrassing. Somebody get this man a mirror and a refund.
According to the New York Post's Page Six, the incident started innocently enough. The band threw an image of their black crow mascot dressed as Uncle Sam up on the stage screen, reportedly right before playing "She Talks to Angels." The crowd did what any red-blooded American crowd in Florida would do — they started chanting "U.S.A!"
That's when Robinson decided to torch his own concert.
"Thanks for the geography lesson," Robinson sneered at the crowd. Then came the real gem: "I don't know what you have to be so proud of right now."
Oh, Chris. You don't know what Americans have to be proud of? Let me check — record border enforcement, a booming economy, a president who actually puts the country first. But sure, go ahead and lecture the people who just paid good money to hear you play songs from 1990.
The crowd wasn't having it. TMZ captured video of the audience erupting in boos, with fans walking out of the venue. Robinson's response to the people rejecting his little sermon? He doubled down, naturally.
"Some of us have real faith," Robinson declared. "And for those of you f---ing booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we are most assuredly not f---ing ignorant, so thank you!"
Not ignorant. Just dumb enough to insult the audience that bought your tickets. In Florida. Where patriotism isn't a punchline — it's a lifestyle.
This isn't even Robinson's first rodeo with political grandstanding. He told Mojo magazine back in March 2026, "I'm not interested in politics. But I know what's right and wrong — and this s--- is wrong." Classic celebrity playbook: "I'm not political, but here's my intensely political opinion that just happens to align with every other millionaire in Hollywood."
The Black Crowes are currently touring with Whiskey Myers, and their next show was scheduled for June 2 in St. Augustine, Florida. One can only imagine how that crowd will receive him after this clip went viral.
Here's what Chris Robinson and every other pampered celebrity needs to understand: regular Americans aren't taking it anymore. You don't get to cash checks from the heartland while spitting on the heartland's values. The crowd booing — that's the real story. That's the sound of a country that's done apologizing for loving itself.
Read the room, Chris. Or don't. Either way, the room just read you.
