Right before leaving office, former President Barack Obama set down guidelines mandating that prisons house inmates according to gender identity, allowing transgender men and women access to the cell blocks and bathrooms of their choice.
President Trump has now totally reversed these guidelines in the wake of a lawsuit brought by four biological women prisoners in the state of Texas who made it abundantly clear in court that having biological men sharing their cell and bathroom constituted cruel and unusual punishment as well as a violation of their bodily rights.
The new guidelines published by the Bureau of Prisons makes it clear that all prisoners will now be housed according to biological gender rather than gender identity. What is more, the rules regarding hormone and medical treatment for transgender individuals have been rewritten to note that medical treatment directly related to changing sex would only be available if absolutely necessary.
The Bureau of Prisons will now be responsible to make final decisions regarding hormone therapies, and gender transition services provided to any transgender individual in prison. The new guidelines also end former President Obama’s policy stating that a transgender persons’ gender identity must be taken into account when prison officials conduct searches, supply undergarments, and use pronouns to describe the individual in question.
Furthermore, it is important to note that the President has also changed the stated purpose of the Transgender Offender Manual itself. When Barack Obama was president, the stated purpose of the manual was to identify, track and provide services to transgender inmates. A new clause has been added to note that the identifying, tracking and provision of services to the transgender population should be consistent with maintaining security and good order in federal prisons.
Naturally, the move has sparked a backlash from those who think that a quarter of one percent of the prison population has the right to trample on the rights and concerns of the overwhelming majority. Mainstream news media headlines screamed that President Trump has rolled back prison rules that protect transgender inmates.
LGBT activists howled that the president is attempting to violate an inhumane agenda, and is encouraging prisons to violate federal law. However, as a spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons recently noted, the policy change allows the Bureau to consider the needs of all prison inmates rather than prioritizing those who identify as transgender. Under the new guidelines, prisons can create a balanced, safe atmosphere for all prisons while taking the needs of those who have suffered trauma and/or have specific privacy concerns into account on a case-by-case basis.
The revised guidelines do make allowances for an inmate to be assigned to a facility identifying with his or her chosen gender if the inmate in question has made a great deal of progress towards transitioning, and the progress can be substantiated by medical and mental health records. Prison wardens can also make recommendations regarding the movement of a transgender individual to the facility of his or her choice.
While the move to house prisoners according to biological sex rather than gender identity is sure to generate a great deal of controversy for some time to come, there are many both inside and outside of prison who are sure to agree with the move. The prison system does face challenges, and has fallen short in protecting both transgender and cisgender inmates from sexual assault; clearly, progress does need to be made so that those incarcerated for a crime do not have to worry about rape, assault and humiliation.
However, allowing transgender rights activists to dictate terms to the federal government is clearly not the right answer. The truth is that a small minority of the population cannot demand that the entire population willingly give in to its demands. While allowances will likely be made for some transgender inmates, the overwhelming majority of transgender individuals in the prison system will no longer be able to demand to shower and sleep with members of the opposite sex simply because they feel it is their right to do so.

God does have interest in what happens to a few people, but the people themselves, through stupidity, think they can do and get what they want, but if they get assaulted and ect by other inmates then they will complain there is not enough protection for them. Well the guards can be sleeping with them or standing guard for these ones, and if they did then people would complain about the expense. There are numerous scriptures that calls these things an abomination to God, and someday you will realize that the Bible was correct and by then it will be too late to save yourselves from your eternal reward in heaven, but HELL is the other reward whether you want to believe it or not.
