Washington, D.C.’s Democrat Mayor, Muriel Bowser is desperately clinging to a COVID vaccine mandate in her district – a policy which disproportionately targets black school children.
Many school districts in the nation have abandoned trying to force the experimental COVID jab on children, but D.C. mandates that children 12 and older be “up-to-date on required vaccinations before returning this August.”
A significant portion of D.C.’s black students remain unvaccinated, meaning the Democrat’s restrictive policy would keep these students out of school.
The Daily Signal’s Douglas Blair asked the D.C. mayor “how she could justify forcing 40% of unvaccinated black students to stay home from school.”
“Why is the District continuing with this policy when it seems to disproportionately impact black students?” he asked.
Bowser dodged the question – instead claiming that Blair’s statistics were inaccurate.
“I don’t think that number is correct,” Bowser responded, though the numbers Blair cited appear to coincide with those put forth by the D.C. Department of Health. “We have substantially fewer number of kids that we have to engage with vaccination. And I explained why it’s important. It’s important for the public health of our students and that we can maintain safe environments.”
D.C. Department of Health spokeswoman Kelsey Felton confirmed, according to the Daily Wire, that while approximately 85% of children age 12-17 are vaccinated, just 60% of African-American children age 12-17 are known to have already received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Felton continued, “For the upcoming 2022-23 school year, vaccination against COVID-19 is included among these requirements for children over the age of 12. DC Health believes that vaccinating children against COVID-19 is an important action to protect them and their families from this virus.”
Though it’s unclear what exactly D.C.’s so-called health experts are basing this decision on, given the fact that children are at extremely low risk of getting severely ill from the virus and the vaccine has been proven to not stop the spread.
D.C.’s Council made the decision to enforce the mandate despite a Council Office of Racial Equity (CORE) report on the legislation that found “enforcement of the bill will exacerbate racial inequity by disproportionately removing Black students from school.”
“This may result in increased learning loss, additional negative social and educational outcomes and in blocking students from vital school resources,” the report found.
Many parents whose children remain unvaccinated have no intention of subjecting their children to the experimental jab, citing “concerns about the newness of the vaccine and not enough testing or research, concerns over side effects, and worries over the overall safety of the vaccines.”
In fact, a majority of parents even view the vaccine as a greater danger to their child’s health than COVID itself according to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey which revealed 53% of parents hold this belief.
She needs to return to the kitchen, baking biscuits.
With the steady stream of side effects coming out, no one should be getting the jab.
The first line I read about the vaccines was that the mRNA would FOREVER change the immune system of anyone who got the shots! I decided then NOT to get the shots! I ike the immune system God gave me at birth! Now there is more information available to those of us who are not demonrats! It’s totally scary! 40 percent of the pregnant women in trials before the release of the vaccine had miscarriages! Thousands of heart attacks in adults, and heart disease in heathly people! Now the Nazi in Michigan has a commercial saying that caring parents are having their 6 month old babies vaccinated! Not for millions of dollars would I do that!
The teachers are probably grateful. Gives them a break from having to deal with uncontrollable gangbangers.
