An NCAA Sprinter Breaking Women’s Records — By Competing as a Man

Franklin University’s Craig Tefler was considered an average to above average sprinter and hurdler last year — when he competed against other men. This year, however, Tefler is flying high as the top competitor in several events, including the 55 meter dash and the 55 meter hurdle.

What changed?

Craig did. He changed his name to CeCe, and he began competing as a woman. Tefler, now a senior, competed last January as a man, before growing out his hair and switching to the women’s track team at the same school.

While Tefler was considered a better than average male hurdler, the lower hurdles and slower pace of the female events has made him as star. Men have faster times than women at both events (and other foot races as well), thanks to biology. Longer legs, more muscle mass, bigger hearts, and lots of testosterone simply make for faster times. Tefler has all of these advantages on his side when he races against smaller, less muscular opponents with far less testosterone. As a result, he wins big and wins often.

Tefler competes against women under an NCAA policy that allows biological men to enter the women’s division once they have suppressed their testosterone levels for a year. According to the NCAA, this suppression of testosterone neutralizes any advantage a man might have in competing against physically smaller and less muscular opponents once he is a transgender female. The NCAA claims it is “important not to overgeneralize” the physical differences between men and women as it relates to sports and physical competition.

Despite the inherent advantages of biology, athletes like Tefler have been competing against and winning against women athletes at all levels. A Connecticut school made headlines recently when it allowed male athletes to compete in women’s track events. Two transgender runners won first and second place at a highschool championship match — depriving two girls of advancing to the next level of competition and being seen by college coaches.

According to the Washington Times, Connecticut is one of several states that has no restrictions for transgender high school athletes. To compete, athletes in the state simply have to claim to be transgender and dress as females. Surgery or medications to suppress testosterone are not needed; this has led to many in the community to complain of unfairness, as average male athletes become star female ones.

For the displaced female runners, the disappointment is palpable. Many see no point in competing once men are allowed to take to the field, due to the biological advantages these competitors have. Girls and women’s sports are separate from men’s for these very reasons; the differences in everything from size and muscle mass to hormones and even heart size (larger hearts equal more oxygen and more endurance) mean an average male competitor will always win over even an advanced woman.

What does this mean for girls hoping to get in to college or women hoping to enter the Olympics? Only time will tell, but for the athletes competing against Tefler and the Connecticut sprinters, the results are clear.

  1. We need to screen using DNA like they have done in the Olympics. If your DNA does not match, sorry, no race.

      1. sad u had to “no pun entended” on the boycott word. even u that have lógical mentality saw the need to apologize for normal word. stop catering to snowflakes

although I agree DNZ and real Science should predial. we have Weight classes in almost all sports that are one on one (racing is just u against the clock with others, versus basquetbol or baseball you can be whoever you like, I Think, in the NFL but what Woman or for that matter what Guy with a small Frame is going to last the 250 – nothing but muscle – coming at you?

in sports Weight and other issues, size, gender (or should we change the Olympics to include alll transgender sports which will inevitably lead to all male participants. and the real men Will make the transgenders unimortant except where underage kids develop. Gee I wonder how that Will wokr out…. mmmm

  2. The actual female runner is not going to win anyway so why not enter an average female runner along with the better female runner to accidently bump into the transgender runner and knock them down or off stride. If this happens often enough throughout the country then maybe things will change. I know if I were that better female runner and was competing against a man I would take them out myself and allow another female to win.

  3. KUDOS TO YOU BERTHA!…I love the way you think!…..THIS COUNTRY IS A DISCRACE….LOOK AT SABRINA AND VENUS WILLIAMS GETTING AWAY WITH THIS FOR YEARS…..ALL BECAUSE THEY AREN’T GOOD ENOUGH TO “BE” MALES NOR PLAY AGAINST MALES…WHY DO NEGROS ALWAYS CHEAT?..OBAMA, MALE MICHELE. DR BEN CORSON (did not do surgery on conjoined twins) DR MARTIN LUTHER KING…PLAGIARISM…THE LIST GOES ON AND ON….ALWAYS GETTING A ‘FREE LUNCH ON OUR DIME!
    .

  4. Globally this is not acceptable. Men in women’s sports is just ridiculous. Next is probably basketball. I like women’s sports
for women. Politically we are again
    ruining a beautiful thing.
To Connecticut, fix it. As a father I would not be proud of my son if he competed against women. Who the hell encouraged this ?

  5. How can the world be this disconnected, to allow this. They were average as a male so now they are extraordinarily good at the sport as a girl. How can anybody with an education past kindergarten justify this travesty. Lie, Cheat Steal, be something you are not? This is the liberal rainbow way;

  6. This is so wrong. A man is a man where sports come in. I do not know what is happening in the sports world. I know longer watch most sports. If a man can’t win as a man (this has nothing to do with being gay etc) then he should find something else to do. It is unfair to women.

  7. It’s your liberals and their mental illness. America is so dumb down. Democrat party will do anything to destroy America. Transgender s are sick people. All should be in mental hospitals. Two genders, that is all there is. Sicko.

  8. To Correct Cheating with Cheating just doesn’t seem to cut it.Transgender Men competing with a Birth Females seems to me a HOAX.Why would I want to see a Man beat a Woman at Games. We All know the difference between a Man and a Woman,I hope.

  9. This is all part of: 1) making men and women indistinguishable from each other; 2) thinning the human herd beyond it’s powers to reproduce itself; 3) ending humanity as we know it and as it was meant to be WITHOUT shots being fired or bombs being exploded.

  10. The very same people that supported this insanity in the first place are now the ones suffering the consequences of that decision! Idiot college millennials that thought it was cool to support these freaks now have to pay the price and now want sympathy, screw them, let them pay the price.

  11. Fifty-Five years ago, I was an average male college sprinter. Even so, my time in the 200m would have placed me 8th in the most recent woman’s Olympic games. I wonder how I would do if I were to enter senior woman track events?

  12. First off it’s against the rules to take testosterone. Being born a man with testicles means you come with an abundance of testosterone. Therefore you are stronger and do not belong in a sport designed and aimed and set up specifically for females bodies inside and out .

  13. Hey folks, keep voting for the dem’s and this is the type of government we can expect. Back a number of years it was the Russian females in the Olympics that were questionable. They all had good biceps and leg muscles like a man. What’s happening with questionable gender use in our school bathrooms? Shania Twain’s song ‘I feel like a woman’ seems to be the battle cry for some unisex guys.

  14. The DemoCRAP (socialist/communist) Party wanted this, and women’s groups screamed and cried for “equal rights”.
But overall, our various ethnic, religious, and gender minorities have destroyed the US and are continuing to do even more damage, The DemonCRAP Party fully supports this destruction of the US, eagerly guided and lead by Nasty Puglousy and Schmuck U Shyster. The more minorities the idiots elect to political office, the faster we are doomed to never recover, because ALL of these minorities are selfish and jealous, and hate the US.

  15. Why not redefine the events? XY chromosome & XX chromosome events instead of boys and girls or men and women….. wouldn’t fix the situation?

  16. The solution is very simple. Just create a third category. Men, women and then other for those who want to compete in a different gender category from which they were born. Problem solved…

  17. Track, Cycling, Womens powerlifting. Transgenders are dominating. There is only one way this will stop. High school, college all the way to the Olympics. Women HAVE to refuse to participate! I am sorry it is not fair but it is the only way that will work. When the only one that compete are trans there will be no “event” When there is NO money to support the event the issue will be addressed PRONTO
