President Joe Biden presented his first prime time address to update the nation about the COVID-19 pandemic after more than 50 days in office without a solo press conference. Unfortunately, his message of hope was more a message of “nope.”
Among his laundry list of recommendations, Biden threatened to return pandemic restrictions if positive cases numbers don’t continue to decline. “Because if we don’t stay vigilant and the conditions change, then we may have to reinstate restrictions to get back on track, please, we don’t want to do that again.”
The president noted vaccinations will be made available to all Americans starting May 1. However, the report came with warning labels that resembled the latest pharmaceutical commercial on late night television. “In the coming weeks, we will issue further guidance on what you can and cannot do once fully vaccinated to lessen the confusion, to keep people safe, and encourage more people to get vaccinated.”
But even if everything goes according to plan, the best Americans can wish for under Biden’s plan is a small backyard barbeque to celebrate Independence Day in JULY. Even then, the president noted, “That doesn’t mean large events with lots of people together, but it does mean small groups will be able to get together.”
If this was the inspiring message Americans were hoping for from the unity president, there was a big letdown among viewers. In summary, it might get worse again, I’ll give you more rules later for after you’re vaccinated, and if all goes well, you can come out of your basement to light a few fireworks with your family by mid-summer.
In contrast, Texas and Mississippi recently announced complete rollbacks of pandemic restrictions. In Idaho, citizens are burning masks. Oklahoma is joining the party to go mask-free as well. Common sense states realize America has been on lockdown long enough. It’s time to get back to school and work and live free once again.
But perhaps there’s another reason for Biden (or those in charge of putting the words on his teleprompter) to warn about future restrictions. For the invisible president, his greatest weakness is appearing in public. It makes you wonder how many of the nation’s restrictions exist solely to keep the president behind closed doors.
Plus, if Americans are under restrictions in late 2022, like Dr. Anthony Fauci has at times warned, it opens an opportunity for the left when the midterm elections occur. Just create an excuse for people to stay home, and everyone can vote from home or use a drop box, and who knows what magic numbers might appear in the early morning hours after election night?
Finally, don’t forget, this is all Trump’s fault. Every Democrat who extends lockdowns likes to remind Americans that if the former president had shut down the nation earlier or had distributed vaccines more quickly, we’d be back at the beach by now.
But many Americans have already figured out the game plan. This spring break, the people on the beach reveal the nation is no longer abiding by made up quarantine rules designed to divide the nation while preaching unity. Biden can stay in his Oval Office if he wants, but the rest of the nation going back to work.
