New Mexico Republican Rep. Yvette Herrell expressed concern after she visited more than 5,000 Afghan refugees housed at Holloman Air Force Base after military officials could not provide basic facts about those living at their location.
“Unfortunately, I left Holloman Air Force Base with more questions than answers. High ranking military brass and officials from Homeland Security and the State Department could not provide facts about the identities of those in the ‘Village,'” Herrell said in a Fox News Op-Ed on Tuesday.
“They did not know (or would not say) how many were U.S. citizens, how many were Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) applicants, or how many were merely people that made it onto our airplanes.
“Even more importantly, they could not say how many refugees had roles serving alongside U.S. forces,” the congresswoman added.
Herrell also expressed concern over the need to rescue “Afghan interpreters” from Afghanistan and the requirement for the military to hire translators to assist with the refugees living at the base.
“It is puzzling that the evacuation effort was sold to the American people as a rescue of Afghan interpreters for the U.S. military, yet I was told that the ‘Village’ at Holloman is forced to employ at least 50 outside interpreters to bridge the significant language gap,” Herrell wrote.
In addition, Herrell found the Afghan refugees do not have to remain on base.
“Surprisingly, Afghans are not required to stay on base. They are merely encouraged to stay, as this is where they will go through the process to ultimately receive citizenship status,” Herrell said.
“If they choose to leave, however, they are not eligible to return to the military installation. There were no signs, literature, or other visible efforts to help these people conform to our society. Even more worrisome, there was no discussion of the human trafficking, child brides, or sex abuse that have been widely reported.”
Keep in mind this was only among 5,000 refugees in New Mexico. The location is one of at least eight U.S. military bases now welcoming Afghans evacuated from the Middle East.
The plan was to house up to 50,000 Afghans on military bases. There is now discussion of up to 95,000. Of course, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants at least 200,000, but has no plans so far for that many.
In addition to safety concerns, who is paying for all of this “tourism?” You are. American taxpayers are not only helping refugees escape the Taliban. Taxpayers are providing the welfare expenses to bring them to our nation, house them, feed them, educate children and maybe even make citizens out of them.
Sure, these people need help, but was flying tens of thousands of Afghans to the other side of the planet a better plan than taking them to a neighboring country? Was it worth the security risk to provide only basic vetting before bringing people to our military bases?
Seems like there were a lot of smarter options, but don’t confuse Democrats with the truth. The Biden administration already has a plan, and we’re seeing it unfold whether we like it or not.
Biden is simply a slave to the wants of the Democrat Party. He does not have anything to say about how to handle these Afghans now that his administration has totally f–cked everything up. His administration has allowed hundreds of thousands of immigrants – many illegals and a few legals – to enter the USA and spread all over the Nation. Rather than comply with laws and rules that have enforced how immigrants can acquire citizenship in the USA, Biden and his administration simply cut all corners and bestow US citizenship on thousands of people who cannot speak our English language. Of course, many of the illegal immigrants to the USA will be given US citizenship and in turn coerced by the Democrats to vote only Democrats in all future balloting. As an old veteran with 26 years fighting for this country, I, along with millions of other citizens, are totally embarrassed by what Biden and his rotten administration have done to our reputation throughout the world. Who can trust the USA with the damned Democrats trying to destroy our Government and abruptly avoiding our promised agreements with countries who have been our allies for so long. I honestly feel that the Democrats should roast in hell. God would surely forbid them for their activities and actions.
I would have to agree with the congresswoman from N.M. How can be possibly expect the administration of the Biggest Idiot Democrat Ever Nominated to deliver a sound and safe policy. I see a complete disaster beginning to unfold. If there are interpreters in there why do we need to hire additional interpretersGod help us please.
Islam is not a peaceful religion. I could be for some but it has a very dark side as in quest for world domination, and kill the infidels. Apparently they hate everyone especially Christians and Jew that do not bow to Allah. To live safely maybe, with them you must convert to their religion. It is noted that when they move into an area the other people that were residents get out one way or the other. This is not safe for any country. the Crristian conquers not the right word forgot that. The word is crusaders. the Christian Crusaders of the past in the early like from one thou to probably thirteen thous. BC fought to send the islamics back to the middle east. They heavily invaded Spain and other European countries. They realized the serious consequences of that and drove them back by war to their homeland. We stupids opened the door and welcomed them with open arms.
As Mark Levin remarked on one of his shows, “YOU ARE BEING REPLACED. ” I too believe this. Honestly, everything the Biden regime does harms hardworking loyal American citizens . I believe he is purposely increasing the poverty of our citizens making us dependent on the government, consciously brainwashing our children, and stealing our God given rights.
These dumbass Democrats brought all these people of no value into this country that can’t even speak English. They also have left our southern border wide open and who knows what kind of people have come through. I understand there are 8000 waiting to come in now. This USA has been ruined by Democrats in a record eight months of Bidens term.

These are not immigrants they are called insurance votes for the democrats.. They will be counted as soon as they pass the federal law to not require any ID and allow ballot harvesting (like that’s not being used now) .?
