Last week, lawmakers introduced a bill intended to pause the use of taxpayer-derived revenues to fund gain of function for five years. It’s called the “Pausing Enhanced Pandemic Pathogen Research Act,” and it’s better than nothing. But the limp-wristedness of this measure is an insult to those who have been killed, become impoverished, and who were and are being persecuted as a result of this virus and the response to it.
Representative Buddy Carter said, “We understood the dangers of gain of function research, but the National Institute of Health and Dr. Fauci continued to fund it. This is something we never should have allowed without oversight and safety protocols.”
This should not impress anyone. They knew the research is dangerous and did nothing while the NIH and Fauci continued to pour American tax dollars into funding it. What’s more, they stood by and watched while Fauci and the NIH continued building Frankenstein viruses and did nothing until the whole thing went public. If this story had not come out, these legislators would have done nothing, knowing it could cause a deadly pandemic.
Not good enough.
While the public is just learning that for years their money has been used to create diseases that are designed to kill us, politicians from both parties have known all along.
Last year, we reported the claims of virologists who said that the 2019 novel coronavirus appears to possess artificially created structures enabling it to pass from animals to humans. That means the virus was purposefully altered to be more infectious. More recently, we reported the evidence that Fauci was involved in the funding and the direction of the Wuhan lab where these alterations were made.
Like many other now widely accepted facts, these facts have gone from the paper bin of conspiracy theories to the realm of accepted modern history. It is now certain beyond all but the faintest shadow of doubt that the so-called Dr. Fauci has had a hand in the gain of function projects which made this “pandemic” what it is.
Not only this, but, knowing exactly what the virus is and what it is capable of, Fauci has made recommendations for lockdown measures that have crippled our economy, caused mass poverty, evictions, suicides, broken families, and- deaths from the virus – in that order. Now, we know that Dr. Fauci lied to Congress when he was confronted by Rand Paul. He lied about the nature of gain of function research, and he lied about his involvement in it. It helps to bear in mind that while Paul is not a virologist, he is a doctor, trained in medical science. So he is not completely out of his lane when he tackles these issues.
If our leaders were well meaning and reasonable, Dr. Fauci would be in jail waiting for trial. But it has come to a point where they cannot survive politically if they don’t do something. So they are taking aim at gain of function research itself.
