The House Republican leadership has grown so frustrated with Democrat radical extremism, that they’re calling their bluff once and for all.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy plans to give the far-left the vote they want on abolishing ICE, and shine a spotlight on what Americans would be getting by voting Democrat in the midterm elections.
McCarthy has earned a reputation for a no-nonsense approach to representing his constituents and national legislation. If Democrats want to rally around denouncing the rule of law, the Republican stalwart will put their proposed legislation front and center.
“It’s the craziest position I’ve ever seen, and they are just, they’re tripping over themselves to move too far to the left,” Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan reportedly said. “They are out of the mainstream of America and that’s one of the reasons why I feel very good about this fall.”
With the Republican leadership calling them out, Democrats are already running scared.
Despite the poll numbers that more than 75 percent of American do not want to dismantle Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, Democrats continue to cater to their slim progressive base. The fact that House Democrats spent the time, money and energy to create and submit legislation for the destruction of ICE shows everyday Americans that the extreme left pulls their strings.
Wisconsin Democrat Rep. Mark Pocan filed a bill to end the agency once and for all, and the effort has gained traction among progressive Democrats. The liberal has been joined by Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal and New York Rep. Adriano Espaillat to press the effort forward.
The shear insanity of removing law enforcement protection at the southern border and across the country has been a hypocritical talking point that Democrats have engaged in with the biased mainstream media. But McCarthy’s call to show their cards has liberals backpedaling.
With McCarthy reportedly moving to open floor debate and have a vote on the Abolish ICE bill before the August break, the same cast of liberal characters apparently don’t want a vote.
Rep. Pocan has now gone on the record saying that McCarthy’s helping the legislative process unfold to a conclusion is a “political stunt” by Republicans. That statement has even the far left scratching its collective head. But Pocan’s other statements clearly show that the Abolish ICE legislation was not filed in good faith.
“If Paul [Ryan] really wants to give us time, we would love to have time on the floor,” Pocan reportedly said. “We’ll be glad to capture floor time to talk about family separation, to talk about ICE, to talk about DACA, all the stuff that they haven’t given us floor time on.”
Contrary to Pocan’s statement, America looked on as numerous immigration bills backed by Republicans and Pres. Donald J. Trump were voted on that would have provided a pathway to citizenship for upwards of 1.8 million so-called Dreamers. Democrats voted against every one of them.
To say the liberal front led by the likes of Pocan are disingenuous would be an understatement, to say the least. But the rising progressive extremism coming out of the primaries provides telltale signs that the next wave of Democrats will move even further left.
While it seems some Democrats are playing fast and loose with the legislative process to garner fake news media headlines, others are wedded to disrupting the American way of life.
For example, when New York socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ousted the No. 4 ranking Democrat Rep. Joe Crowley in a recent primary, that sent a signal the party has shifted even further left. Ocasio-Cortez ran a campaign platform of open borders, socialism and abolishing ICE among others. The upstart favors not only holding a vote to end ICE, but actually doing it.
In California, Democrats are no longer willing to support moderates who negotiate in good faith across the aisle. Diane Feinstein — a 26-year incumbent Senate Democrat — was snubbed by the state’s party leaders because she would not back the more radical positions. Despite Sen. Feinstein outpacing challengers by a wide margin in the primaries, Kevin de León has earned the Democratic Party endorsement based on his willingness to support far left positions such as abolishing ICE, sanctuary cities, repealing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and open borders.
In Washington, D.C., Democrats’ chickens are coming home to roost. Republican leaders are calling them out so that people will know which want to bring down the country, and which are trying to bamboozle Americans.
