Florida Governor Ron DeSantis revealed that his state will refuse to get on board with the World Health Organization’s (W.H.O.) global pandemic treaty – expressing concerns over the supposed treaty that is intended to supersede American sovereignty.
DeSantis said there is “no way” Florida will ever support the global pandemic treaty. “We in Florida, there is no way we will ever support this W.H.O. thing … that’s not going to happen. No way,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Cape Coral, Florida.
“But you saw, I mean, you saw a lot of these elites advocate very pernicious policies,” he added, noting that “part of the reason people want to move here is because we rejected those policies, but they advocated very pernicious policies, including locking kids out of school.”
DeSantis’ comments come as the W.H.O. has been pushing for the ratification of a Biden-backed “global pandemic treaty,” which would “give the W.H.O. tremendous increases in power and funding, transferring much of the authority for pandemic control from member nations to the U.N. agency.”
Breitbart News reported, “Both the IHR amendments and the new “global pandemic treaty” are set to be topics of discussion at the upcoming World Health Assembly.”
“Supporters say this is necessary to improve worldwide pandemic response, while critics warn about the loss of national sovereignty to a globalist organization that did not distinguish itself during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.”
The outlet continued, “Article 9 of the Biden administration’s proposed IHR amendments simply strikes out the existing requirement for W.H.O. to “consult with and attempt to obtain verification from the State Party in whose territory the event is allegedly occurring.” Every subsequent reference in the IHR to consulting with the relevant state party is likewise erased, effectively giving the W.H.O. director unilateral authority to declare outbreaks.”
Opponents of this push have sounded the alarm that it would essentially just be a massive power grab by globalists.
“The WHO Pandemic Treaty MUST be stopped,” Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) said. “We cannot allow our national sovereignty to be SURRENDERED to America Last UN bureaucrats. Say NO to the Pandemic Treaty!!”
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) also made it clear that the United States “must never allow Biden to use a ‘Pandemic Treaty’ to give control over American public health decisions to the corrupt @WHO.”
Early this week, the House Freedom Caucus – a group of pro-America Republicans – sent a letter to Biden demanding that he immediately halt his efforts to hand power over to the corrupt W.H.O.
“The House Freedom Caucus urges you to halt your efforts to empower the World Health Organization (WHO) and instead either immediately resume President Trump’s withdrawal from the body or, at the very least, push serious reforms to aggressively correct the organization’s rampant corruption and ineffectual leadership,” the letter reads.
The House Freedom Caucus ended its letter by telling Biden he must “provide the American people with total transparency,” and said if a “global pandemic treaty” is reached, he must seek consent from two-thirds of the U.S. Senate to make a treaty.
“Furthermore, as efforts continue by WHO Member States to negotiate a ‘global pandemic treaty,’ we demand that you provide the American people with total transparency and respect for our nation’s sovereignty. Under no circumstances should you cede our government’s operational control in a public health emergency to an international body,” the letter read.
“In the event any agreement is reached on a ‘global pandemic treaty,’ we expect you to fully comply with Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states that ‘the President shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur,’” it concludes.
