Democrats position themselves and their potential candidates as proponents and cheerleaders for women, but they have a serious Joe Biden problem.
The former vice president’s groping hands and history of pawing the women and girls he is surrounded with was swept under the rug by his campaign, and most news outlets also ignore this propensity, in a “boys will be boys” kind of way – even when the boy in question is running for the top office in the land.
Biden’s handlers jobs got a lot more difficult this week when he referred to a young woman as a “Lying Dog-Faced Pony Soldier” on camera. It was a perplexing moment for everyone except Biden. Most of us don’t even know what he meant by pony soldier, though “lying” and “Dog faced” are pretty self explanatory. The student herself has said she felt belittled and humiliated by the candidate; after all, the name -calling took place on a national stage.
Apparently, the insult is a reference to a John Wayne movie — but we can’t expect a 21-year-old college girl to know that, can we?
Biden attacked college student Madison Moore after she asked a question about his candidacy and his current standing. Biden’s response was not to answer her question, which was about his standing in Iowa. Instead of answering, he taunted the 21 year old student about her use of language (she referred to the Iowa caucus as a “primary” instead of a caucus.
“It was kind of humiliating to be called a liar on national TV by the former vice president,” Moore said.
“Instead of answering that question straightforward, his immediate response was to attempt to invalidate me by exposing my inexperience.”
Biden was willingly answering questions and seemed to take offense to the one posed by Moore — perhaps because it questioned his current stats and performance in the early primaries.
“He has been performing extremely poorly in this race and the fact that he couldn’t just straight answer my question without bullying or intimidating just exacerbates that fact,” Moore added, speaking to the Telegraph.
As mentioned above, the “pony soldier” comment comes from a John Wayne movie, according to the 77 year old Biden’s campaign, but further research reveals that the statement seems to be a mix of quotes and comments from several old Western movies. Why a remark by a modern 21-year-old college student triggered this kind of attach and this characterization is anyone’s guess. Biden’s campaign has declined to speculate further, insisting that it is from a movie.
This is not the first time Biden has attacked a citizen who questioned his approach to campaigning or actions. He called another citizen with a question a “damn liar” at a recent rally. The 83-year-old farmer had asked about Biden’s involvement in the Ukraine scandal.
Biden tried to recover by stating that the “lying dog faced pony soldier” college student’s question was a legitimate one, but the interaction was caught on tape and is not going anywhere any time soon.
