The Left’s Predictable Response to Presidential Visits

First they criticize him for tweeting while golfing about Las Vegas, then they criticize him for actually visiting…when will the liberal media finally come to terms with their hatred of everything Trump?

The mainstream media’s coverage of high profile Trump appearances now follows a predictable pattern. First, the media chastises the president for not “doing something sooner” about whatever issue the appearance is about. They completely eschew the fact that the Office of the President is constantly bombarded with many pressing issues at once. Reporters, however, have the unique liberty to assume that their lead story is the only thing happening in the world.

When the Las Vegas shooting occurred, President Trump still had Puerto Rico and Russia to deal with, among many other things. We won’t go into how they completely misinformed the public of his appearance in Puerto Rico, passing around a photo of the President throwing paper towels to residents and framing it as somehow callous.

After the initial mischaracterization of the president’s duties, the liberal media then goes directly into a mischaracterization of the president’s timeline. If the president cannot get to the scene as fast as the reporter, the reporter assumes that the president is somehow lazy or uncaring. The reporter, and indeed, the liberal media as a whole, does not seem to realize that the only thing they do is go to the scenes of current events. When they get there, they are not tasked with any sort of outreach or service outside of creating images and storylines to benefit themselves. They interview victims while providing nothing. They capture the tears, heartbreak and tragedy for no reason other than profit.

In the meantime, the Office of the President must deal with security and the logistics of actual problem solving. Before President Trump makes an appearance anywhere, including Las Vegas, he must come prepared with some sort of band aid for the problem. There is very little that anyone can do for the families who lost loved ones in this unbelievable tragedy. However, President Trump is the one who must make the effort, not the arrogant reporters from whatever news station.

The third step in the mainstream media pattern is to then make completely tactless speculations about why the tragedy that just occurred somehow lasts more than five to ten minutes.

“This is the United States,” they quip. “President Trump is the most powerful man in the Free World.” Does the liberal media expect that President Trump can somehow bring those lost in Las Vegas back to life? What kind of solution is their narrative supposed to speak to, exactly?
Conservatives must look past the patterns that liberal media puts in our faces. The only purpose of these useless narratives is to take our attention away from any solution that may be in the works.

We must also put a more realistic face on the power that the presidency holds to correct tragedies in our lives. There is a reason that the Republican party is known as the party of self reliance. As citizens of the United States, we have the backing of the most powerful government in the world.

However, the truth is that our government cannot protect us from everything. This falsehood is the core of the narrative that liberal media loves to spread: President Trump must somehow protect us from the crazy people who get their hands on guns, give the government more power so that it can do this for us. It’s just not possible.

Let the tragedy in Las Vegas and the exemplary response of President Trump to that tragedy serve as a lesson to us. We owe it to ourselves to protect ourselves. This is not the job of the Office of the President, as the liberal media would have us believe.
