Caitlyn Jenner, a Republican transgender woman officially running for governor in California, opposes transgender women competing in sports alongside biological women — and leftists just don’t know how to handle it.
Conservative pundits, outraged parents, and shafted female high school and college athletes have been saying for years that biological boys and men have no business competing in girls’ sports. Jenner, an Olympic Gold Medalist, made headlines with her common sense take on the issue. This could have huge ramifications if she wins her bid to become Governor of California in the upcoming recall election.
“I didn’t expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I’m clear about where I stand,” Jenner tweeted after making her take known. “It’s an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
Jenner’s stance may surprise some because it’s almost impossible to find a transgender person who doesn’t support the inclusion of biological males in girls’ sports. Indeed, those who have spoken out against the move are ridiculed by Democrat politicians and the mainstream media as bigots.
The gubernatorial candidate has also butted heads with former President Donald Trump before. Jenner spoke out against the Trump Administration when it issued a ban on transgender individuals from serving in the military. However, it appears she isn’t the ardent leftists Democrats were hoping that she was.
As Jenner rightly noted, it’s not fair to allow boys to compete in girls’ sports in school, and the government has a responsibility to protect girls’ sports. While Jenner did not elaborate on her position, her comments make it clear that progressives won’t have full run of the state if she gets elected.
Naturally, Jenner’s stance won’t go over well with progressive voters or organizations. Indeed, the largest LGBTQ advocacy group is refusing to endorse her. However, the fact that California is perhaps the most liberal state in the nation does not necessarily mean that Jenner can’t win the upcoming election. She has hired a top-tier campaign team and her name is well-known throughout the nation.
