The Democratic Party is as fragmented as ever, evidenced now by the fact that party members and their mainstream media friends are savagely attacking Vermont Senator Sanders and his supporters in advance of the 2020 presidential elections.
While Sanders has not yet definitively stated that he will run for president again, many Democrats who blame him for Hillary Clinton’s stunning loss back in 2016 are taking no chances. They are smearing him early on to either prevent him from running again, or seriously handicap his campaign ahead of time in case he does decide to run.
The language used to denigrate Sanders and the millions of people who support him is shocking considering the fact that the socialist Vermont senator caucuses with the Democrats in the Senate, and shares many of the same policy goals.
Former Clinton advisor David Brock recently penned an op-ed denouncing Sanders and his supporters for pointing out that Hillary Clinton was obviously corrupt, not as progressive as Sen. Sanders and would, as president, be indebted to large, corporate donors who gave her millions in a futile effort to get her elected.
Instead of realizing that he supported a failed candidate, Mr. Brock is telling anyone who will listen that Sanders and his ilk is fully responsible for the schism that occurred in the Democratic Party in 2016. He is essentially telling these supporters to shut up and support whoever the DNC thinks would be the best candidate in 2020. He warns that, if they fail to do so, it would be entirely their fault if Donald Trump wins a second term.
Other attackers are far blunter. One journalist actually compared the Vermont Senator to current U.S President Donald Trump directly, stating that both men are dismissive, rude, arrogant and have an abrasive personality.
It is also interesting to note that some staffers and supporters of Sen. Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign are coming forward now, of all times, to complain about sexual harassment and a pay disparity between men and women involved with the campaign. The timing is naturally suspicious as these individuals didn’t bother saying anything for nearly three years but now have plenty to say.
When Sanders apologized for whatever may had happened, political pundits went after him. Even his former supporters who agree that Sen. Sanders are only offering tepid support, stating that there are plenty of other Democratic politicians who have taken up progressive causes.
Despite all of this, Bernie Sanders remains incredibly popular with progressive Americans. While Democrats and their media lackeys do everything in their power to put him down and dismiss Sen. Sanders as an irrelevant candidate, they are almost certainly aware that recent polls show that Sen. Sanders, along with former Vice President Joe Biden, would automatically become frontrunners for the 2020 presidential election should they decide to run.
Many Democrats, especially those who worked with failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, are simply unwilling to accept that Bernie Sanders could become the Democratic nominee if the DNC didn’t attempt to tip the scales in favor of a preferred candidate. For this reason, many of these DNC operatives are willing to risk losing the votes of tens of millions of progressive voters.
Whatever Democratic Party leadership decides to do, one thing is painfully clear: voters are going to have to choose from a very crowded field. And unlike the Republican Party in 2016, which fronted so many candidates that networks were forced to run separate debates, there has yet to be a Trumpian figure who can dominate the room.
As usual, bad news for the Democratic Party seems like very good news for the United States.

I was a Democrat and I would have voted for Sanders. But he let crooked Hillary steal the nomination. For this reason I am now a Republican. I voted for the President. It doesn’t matter who they run, I will now vote for mr Trump.
If you believe that Sanders “let” Hillary “steal” the nomination then you weren’t paying much attention in the first place. If you are enamored by Trump and his criminal administration and would vote for him again, you wouldn’t have liked Bernie anyhow.

Bernie, you had respect from people and voters who did not agree with your economic platform of your past, you lost because of what you believed in. Hillary is just like you, not very good candidates because past considerations are just to damn old. It is wrong to call people old White, Jewish or pld black or Hispanic, Obama was not Jessie Lousie Jackson, he WAS A NATURAL, Hillary was not likeable. Al Gore, Kerrey and others, age caught up where Barracks age was just right.
Of course Bernie knew the votes were rigged in Hillary’s favor! Where do you think that brand-spankin’ new multi million dollar “vacation house” came from right after he “lost.” He was bought and paid for from the beginning.
Bernie Sanders, it is time to hang it up already in politics, running for retirement instead of Presidency.

Socialism is a pretty word for communism. Simple and sweet you lose your freedom and rights . You then are owned by your rulers !
There’s little to distinguish Socialism or Communism from Feudalism. Most of the differences are semantic. All are Progressive, insofar as they centralize power and control in government supported by rents or taxes imposed upon the people. While Progressives are prone to apply the sobriquet “Fascist” to free market capitalists, it is notable how closely the definition fits their own ideology: Fascism: A political system in which an authoritarian government does not own businesses and industries, but strictly regulates and controls their actions, output and rights – while forcibly controlling and suppressing citizens and their thought and speech via stringent laws, intimidation and even violence. Fascism is the manifestation of the regulatory state, centralizing power in the government rather than diffusing it among the people.

Socialism and Communism are two different philosophies in spite of having some similarities. It’s sort of like Republicanism, fascism and nazism. The balance of your comment is also bogus. There are very many examples of socialist policies and programs right here and right now that work beautifully for the benefit of everyone and have so for many years. Have you lost any freedoms lately? How about the loss of any rights? Are you currently owned by anyone?
Yes, the freedom to speak without incurring withering scorn from those who hold a different opinion. Whereas it is not as yet set in law, as in Canada where some compelled speech has found its way into the law, it would become so under a progressive administration. And it would incur more than withering scorn.
Let’s face it. There is no Democrat party any Longer. Bernie Sanders, AOC, the foul mouth from Michigan and all the other “Progressives” need to start their own Party and see how far they get. We Republicans would appreciate it and not have to listen to so much crap.

If the Democratic Party had not ‘short circuited’ Bernie for Hillary in the last election then results could have been different. Perhaps something to be learned but most likely not.
The Communist Party of America must be jumping for joy. It looks like the early forecast for the 2020 Presidential election calls for more radical socialists than traditional establishment Democrats. The “free everything” candidate crowd is growing faster than the tried and true Donkey heads. AOC, Beto, Harris, Booker all represent the mass immigration and illegal invasion of the past 50 years. If it hadn’t been for Trump, America would now be continuing down the road of 10 years of far left socialistic governance. Maybe never to return to even center-left policy ideology. This idea that America was build on the backs of immigrants is true………..but the key foundation of that process is that those immigrants “became” Americans and not what is happening today. That those coming here now want to change America into what they came from.
