How each person defines the word “hero” differs slightly. Some think musicians are heroic, others label sports stars as worthy of the title, and still others feel that service men and women are the only ones deserving of the name.
Suffice it to say, everyone has a different opinion of what it means to be a hero. To one young 11-year-old girl from Long Island, President Donald Trump fits her personal description. Unfortunately, the teacher who assigned her a school project that required students to name their hero didn’t agree.
11-year-old Bella was given a classroom assignment that required she select someone worthy of the label “hero.” She chose President Donald Trump. She told her local news station that she chose him simply because “Donald Trump is my hero.”
Bella’s teacher didn’t allow the girl to go through with her pick, and immediately shut down her idea, telling the child she couldn’t choose President Trump as her hero because he “spreads negativity and says bad stuff about women.” Bella’s teacher was accused by the child of scolding her in front of all her classmates. The teacher did tell Bella that President Barack Obama would be an acceptable choice, just not President Trump.
After learning what took place in their daughter’s classroom, Bella’s father and mother, Arthur and Valerie Moscato were understandably upset. They rebuked the teacher’s decision publicly during a school board meeting. They claimed the teacher’s actions towards their daughter’s choice of hero and the demeaning method in which she rebuked her amounted to “intimidation and censorship.”
“My daughter’s hero is the president of our country,” Bella’s father said. “I can’t believe anybody at the school would tell my daughter that that guy can’t be hero. I’m incensed by this.”
Bella’s mom Valerie made the case to local media.
“My daughter has every right to do and pick a hero of her choice,” she said. “It’ a First Amendment right, freedom of speech, freedom of expression. So, it was really upsetting to me that the teacher was trying to shut her down.”
Speaking for the school district involved, Dr. Kenneth Graham, Sachem Central School District superintendent denied the allegations, saying the incident never took place.
“It is not accurate that this student was told that they were not allowed to conduct research or report on any individual for a school assignment, including President Trump,” he retorted. “To the best of our knowledge, by choice, the student is still conducting their project on President Trump.”
Arthur wasn’t having it, suggesting the cover-up was only making the situation worse.
“No one should make a child feel that way, and you’re supposed to protect my child,” he added.
School should be a safe harbor for children, and teachers should not only be kind to their students, but they should be a vital component of any child’s support system. Teachers like Bella’s should be reprimanded for their actions and should seriously reconsider their career choice.
What occurred in the classroom that day might never be correctly ascertained. Of course, Bella’s parents believe their child and back her up, demanding she be treated fairly. Conversely, the school district is going to deny any and all wrongdoing. Since the event wasn’t recorded, it truly is a “he said, she said” situation.
Apparently, young Bella has a long history of supporting the President. She even dressed up as him when she was in third-grade. Therefore, her choice of “hero” makes sense, so that is likely not contested. What happened after that, though, is anyone’s guess. However, it most certainly wouldn’t be the first time such an incident has occurred in American schools, and probably won’t be the last. As long as there are bullies in the world, there will be those who seek to demean and criticize those who think differently than themselves, and sometimes these bullies are teachers not other students.

That teacher and the superintendent should both be fired on the spot. Teachers think that somehow they are blessed with ability to do as they please and are above the law of common decency when it comes to shoving their political views down children’s throats. Where are the civil rights people and a ACLU when situations like this happen. If this little girl had been black and said Martin Luther King was her hero and the teacher pulled this same stunt, you can bet all hell would have broken loose.
Maybe all classrooms should be recorded to keep the teachers honest. I believe the child 100%.

Was the teacher black, female, and/or homosexual (whatever variety) ? If any of those boxes are checked, then it will be difficult for her parents to get anything done.
Big ED (no pun intended; actually maybe) has way too much power. This includes state and federal education systems. A good start would be to eliminate the US Department of Indoctrination. I think a Republican in Congress (not sure who) introduced legislation (at some point in the past) to do this very thing. I think it had one statement. I’m paraphrasing; ” Abolish the US Department of Education.” Simple and to the point.
Then, begin to purge state-level Big ED of these leftists. Also, something has to be done about teacher unions, testing companies, and textbook companies.
Further, something has to be done about college-level indoctrination, especially education/teaching programs.

The school district superintendent should pay more attention to using correct sentence structure. How can “this student” be “they” in the same sentence?
PC language is different from proper English language. Since proper English should be taught and spoken in any educational institution, you are correct. Apparently, the superintendent is a politician, not an educator.
I have dealt with a “PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST SCHOOL DISTRICT” and you should always insist on a “Paper Trail” so you never get into a “HE SAID SHE SAID SITUATION” ! My “SCHOOL ADMINISTRAITORS” were trying to place my child into a “REMEDIAL CLASS LEVEL” , I had too hire my own Child Psychologists (two with Doctor Degrees against my school one with a Master Degree) too prove they were wrong!! My School Administration was only interested in getting more money from the Government for “CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES” so they had too increase the number of “DISABLED STUDENTS BY PLACING THEM IN THIS REMEDIAL CLASS LEVEL” !! Since the school administrator denies the incident took place, I wonder if any of the classmates will verify that the situation actually occurred. The teacher is biased in that she said the girl could choose Obama as a hero but not President Trump. The teacher is worthy of a reprimand.

I would certainly like to question the other children who were in the classroom when this occurred, and learn what the truth really is, and if Dr. Kenneth Graham is the real liar, if Bella Moscato’s story is proven true by the students who were present when all this came down.
If Bella Moscato’s story does prove true, what will Dr. Kenneth Graham say about his lie? Maybe that he questioned the teacher and the teacher told him that the student was lying, not giving any thought that the teacher might be the one who was lying to cover-up her irresponsible position on our President, and what he really is, a hero or a liar, as someone in this incident certainly is.
This is happening in schools all over the U.S. Our grandson reported that his after-care “teacher” was railing that “Trump is not MY president, Obama is my president!’ When grandson replied, “Why… did you want free Obamacare?” she wrote him up for a violation of their “no politics” rule, which evidently applies only to students.

The students in this class should be questioned to determine who is telling the truth . I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this girl was telling the truth . Having listened to “opinions” related to me by my grandchildren it’s apparent that a liberal agenda is being forced down our children’s throats . They know only what their teachers tell them and have little exposure to real historical events . Considering you learn by mistakes from your past , it’s easy to just eliminate the past and that’s what our schools are doing .
So the teacher felt her PERSONAL beliefs that have been PROVEN false repeatedly gave her the right to treat the child this way. She and any in the schools administration who allowed her to do this should be fired.
We all know full well had this teacher done this because it was Obama the student chose and spouted the accusation(s) (proven or not) against him as her excuse she would have been fired on the spot.
