We’re seeing a lot of coverage of the Arizona audit on rightwing news sites that are stating that the mail-in voting systems must be “fixed,” so that 2020 cannot happen again. I respectfully disagree. Mail-in voting cannot be fixed, corrected, repaired, refurbished, renovated, adjusted, overhauled or patched. Once a state adopts universal mail-in balloting, Democrats always seize full control of the reins of power and eventually, Republicans become incapable of winning any statewide offices there. Funny how that phenomenon only works one way, huh?
Here’s a look at two states that are considered the gold standards for mail-in voting in America: Oregon and Colorado.
Oregon was the first state to adopt universal mail-in voting in 2000. How’d that work out for Senator Gordon Smith (R-OR), the last Republican to be elected to a statewide office in Oregon?
Smith was first elected to the Senate in 1996, prior to universal mail-in voting. He defeated his Democrat opponent by a vote of roughly 677,000 to 624,000. Smith proved to be a popular leader with Oregon voters, and when he ran for election in 2002, he wiped out his opponent: 712,000 to 501,000. This was Smith’s first run with universal mail-in voting in Oregon.
In 2008, Gordon Smith accomplished something that no other Republican Senator from Oregon had ever done. He increased his vote total over his 2002 run by roughly 100,000 votes. It was an all-time high for a Republican Senator in Oregon: 805,159 votes. And yet somehow, Gordon Smith lost. The Democrats who totally controlled the elections in Oregon somehow came up with an additional 363,000 votes over their 2002 total. Gordon Smith was the last Republican US Senator for Oregon. There will never be another one elected, so long as universal mail-in voting decides the outcome of Oregon’s elections.
Then there’s Colorado, which became a universal mail-in voting state in 2013. Cory Gardner won his first run for US Senator in Colorado in 2014. It was a narrow election, but he managed to unseat incumbent Sen. Mark Udall (D-CO) by about 40,000 votes.
During his run for reelection in 2020, Senator Cory Gardner accomplished an astonishing feat. He pulled in a record-high 1.4 million votes! This was about a 450,000-vote increase over his total in 2012. No other Republican candidate for Senate has ever pulled in numbers like that.
But… and stop me if you’ve heard this one before… Cory Gardner lost his seat, despite that record-high total. The Democrats somehow turned up an additional 783,000 mail-in ballots over their 2014 total, to wipe out Cory Gardner. Universal mail-in voting allowed 783,000 new voters to materialize out of thin air.
If this all sounds eerily familiar, that’s exactly what happened to Donald Trump in 2020. He enjoyed record-high turnout and earned more votes than any Republican candidate in history. He increased his vote total over his wipeout of the Crooked One in 2016. And he somehow lost, after mail-in ballots continued to materialize out of thin air in five Democrat-controlled counties in swing states.
32 countries in Europe know that mail-in voting cannot be “fixed.” They’ve banned mail-in ballots entirely. If you want to exercise your privilege to vote there, you have to show up in person and cast a paper ballot after showing your ID. Nine countries in Europe allow strictly controlled mail-in voting, but the postal service doesn’t mail the ballot to you. A voter in those countries has to show up in person and present their ID to get a mail-in ballot. Only two countries in Europe allow universal mail-in voting. The rest have either banned or strictly control the process, because it’s too easy for fraud to take place otherwise. Mail-in voting is a system that cannot be “fixed.”
Maricopa County, Arizona is holding local elections next month, so they’ve already started mailing out ballots there. Arizona State Rep. Travis Grantham (R) is sounding the alarm already, because his sister’s ballot came to his parents’ address. The problem is that she moved to California 15 years ago, and she asked to be taken off Arizona’s voter rolls when she moved away in 2006.
In the words of Rep. Grantham, “Something ain’t right.” That’s for sure. Mail-in voting only has one purpose: Democrat election theft. It’s a system that cannot be fixed. Banning it is the only solution.
