On December 18, 2017, Politico reported the troubling story that the Obama administration thwarted its own Drug Enforcement Administration’s attempts to fight Hezbollah.
Hezbollah is a violent terrorist organization backed by Iran. President Obama’s mind-boggling protection of Hezbollah seemingly stemmed from his desperate desire to sign his treasured nuclear deal with Iran. In spite of the major implications of the report, liberal news networks decided it wasn’t important enough to air.
According to NewsBusters, a conservative media watchdog site, reported that the prominent three nightly news networks, ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News, did not cover the story. The startling information was conveniently left off of their websites too. Telemundo and Univision, the leading Spanish networks, also declined to air the shocking discovery. NewsBusters called the absence of coverage a “blackout.”
Unlike the liberal news networks who pathetically pander to the Democrats, Fox News covered the Hezbollah story thoroughly on “Special Report” hosted by Bret Baier. At about the midpoint of the hour long news broadcast, Bair said, “A very serious charge tonight against the Obama administration. A bombshell report alleges the government deliberately sabotaged its own efforts to fight terrorist drug and money laundering operations.”
Baier’s proclamation led into a report with a Fox News correspondent.
Obviously, left-leaning news organizations wouldn’t take the chance of showing President Obama in a less than stellar light. Talking about the troubling report certainly would have done just that. The detailed story issued by Politico uncovered President Obama’s attempts to curb Project Cassandra, a DEA campaign bent on exposing a money laundering ring in which proceeds from Latin American drug trafficking were being sent to Hezbollah. The United States Department of State has identified Hezbollah as foreign terrorist organization since 1997. The dangerous terrorist group has allied itself with Iran, Iraq, Syria, North Korea, and Venezuela.
The Obama administration halted Project Cassandra investigations in a desperate attempt to preserve the Iran nuclear deal. The deal, opposed fiercely by many Republicans, removed economic sanctions from Iran in exchange for the promised suspension of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. When Politico interviewed Project Cassandra agents, they admitted the Obama administration suppressed or undermined their efforts to prosecute prominent Hezbollah operatives who engaged in money laundering and cocaine trafficking. These operatives were given the opportunity to continue their sordid activities even though they were under sealed U.S. indictment.
The Project Cassandra agents claimed officials at both the Justice and Treasury departments continually impeded their attempts to carry out investigations, arrests, prosecutions, and financial sanctions against key figures involved in criminal behavior.
David Asher, a financier who helped form Project Cassandra said, “This was a policy decision, it was a systematic decision” and “They serially ripped apart this entire effort that was very well supported and resourced, and it was done from the top down.”
Asher’s remarks imply President Obama’s fingerprints were all over the decision to allow the Hezbollah operatives to remain free and continue engaging in dangerous activities.
According to the Independent Journal Review, Rep. Robert Pittenger — a Republican from North Carolina — requested a probe into the Project Cassandra matter on December 19, 2017. The IJR reported that several congressional insiders informed the Washington Free Beacon on December 20, 2017 that lawmakers will investigate the issue.
Rep. Peter Roskam, Republican from Illinois, commented to the Washington Free Beacon that he wasn’t surprised at the Project Cassandra discovery “alleging the Obama administration turned a blind eye and allowed Hezbollah to pump drugs into the United States to fund its terror campaigns in the Middle East.”
“Congress needs to investigate this report and do what the Obama administration refused to do — severely increase pressure on Hezbollah and hold the terrorist group, and its benefactor Iran, accountable for their crimes,” he went on to say.
While Obama tried to shield Hezbollah operatives from getting their day in court, the current President of the United States is making the effort to destroy the terrorist organization. On November 30, 2017, Politico published a piece outlining President Trump’s intentions.
Politico reported that Nicholas Rasmussen, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said, “We have and will continue to monitor closely Hezbollah activity around the world and work aggressively to disrupt any instances of Hezbollah operating within our borders.”

Obama was not impeached for two main reasons. The GOP congress would have been tarred and feathered for impeaching “the first black President.” Imagine the glee of the MSM. And most people forget that impeachment is only an indictment. It takes 2/3 of the Senate after a trial to actually remove a President. Even if all the GOP senators voted for removal– and you can bet Collins, Murkowski, and McCain would not– Democrats still represented more than 1/3 of the Senate. What always amazed me was that senators, normally so jealous of their power and perks, sat on their hands through all the unconstitutional executive orders, czar appointments, etc.
