Melania Trump Promotes “Be Best” Campaign on Solo Tour

First Lady Melania Trump took her “Be Best” campaign to an international audience. Her first international solo trip to Africa is found her in Ghana and several other African nations as she visited USAID-supported programs highlighting the multi-faceted well-being of children of all ages, and encouraged parents to teach their kids important life skills. She was accompanied by her communications director Stephanie Grisham and her chief of staff Lindsay Reynolds. USAID administrator Mark Green also joined the First Lady’s delegation.

Melania Trump’s first stop was in Ghana. She has already visited a local hospital, handing out gift baskets donated by the White House and observing hospital operations such as weighing babies and young children. She also had a private conversation with Ghana’s First Lady and exchanged gifts with her.

Other countries on the tour included Malawi, Kenya and Egypt. The exact details of her itinerary were not clear as the White House is hesitant to announce exactly where she will visit and when due to security concerns.

In Malawi, as in Ghana, the First Lady focused on health care and education. In Kenya, she promoted both early education and disease prevention and care. In Egypt, Melania Trump promoted the creation of a healthy, productive environment for children, focusing on women and religious minorities in particular. Conservation is also near the top of her agenda, and in Egypt she paid a visit to the Great Pyramids, perhaps one of the best-known tourist sites in Africa — if not the world. Not surprisingly, she is also promoting local tourism on her stop in Egypt.

Melania Trump is not the first FLOTUS to visit Africa on a solo trip. Former first ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush and Michelle Obama have all visited a number of countries in the region. Even so, Melania has chosen to visit different nations than her predecessors. What is more, her move to visit Africa is not based on precedent or political considerations, but rather a sincere desire to learn more about their culture, customs and traditions. She especially has a heart for local children and the challenges they and their parents face in developing nations that often lack the basic infrastructure needed to provide good health care and an education to the local population.

As CNN contributor Kate Andersen Brower accurately noted, the First Lady has a knack for connecting with young children. She enjoys their company and is clearly happy to be playing and engaging with them. She began planning the trip back in February, and was very involved in working out all the details. Her office noted that she chose the timing for this trip not just for professional reasons, but also personal ones, taking into account her mothering responsibilities to Barron, the First Lady and Trump’s only minor child.

As the First Lady continues her tour of African nations, one thing is clear and that is her grace, elegance and competence are simply beyond reproach. While some news outlets are comparing her comments and actions to those of her husband, most simply cannot say a bad word about her, her goals and her efforts to better the lives of those in developing nations. Her natural, charming smile shines through recent photos, making it clear that she truly enjoys interacting with children and women in need and looking for ways to improve their lot in life. Her elegance and the ease with which she has connected with not just African first ladies but other first ladies from a variety of nations shows that she has what it takes to be a classy First Lady that Americans can look up to.

While she has taken longer to embark on a solo trip that her previous counterparts, her choice of agenda and nations to visit makes it clear that she has put a great deal of planning and preparation into creating a meaningful experience for those she will meet in the course of her travels.

  1. Such a beautiful and classy couple our president and first lady are. We are so lucky to have them. I say November ballot should include a choice to let Trump remain president for the rest of his life.

  2. Better than Jackie Kennedy. Melania is so gracious, beautiful and demure. Her taste is impeccable, and her fashion sense is the best in the world. Melania is a shining example of America’s good will influence over the entire globe. She has no equal on the World stage.

  3. Melania Trump is a truly great representative of AMERICA. True she is not a native born AMERICAN, but she is now an AMERICAN and AMERICA’S FIRST LADY, and she is a lady. You have to look past her great looks and see the person. She is passionate about helping ALL people no matter what race, religion or nationality they may be. I think that Melania Trump will go down in history as one of the greatest First Ladies that AMERICA has ever had.

  4. Yes, Our current POTUS and FLOTUS make a great pair. They both shine in their own light and in their own wright. I’m pleased that someone is noticing!

  5. Touch of class and elegance. First Lady all Americans can be so proud of, especially after the likes of crooked shrill Hillary and Michelle who was never proud of her country until her phony incompetent husband became president. These two are a total disgrace and the sooner they disappear form public view the better.

  6. AWSOME JOB CLASSY FIRST LADY. THE PAST FIRST LADIES ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU. PLEASE GRASE OUR COUNTRY AS FIRST LADY AGAIN IN 2020. TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT 2020.

  7. Someone said Michelle had class. What a laugh, she doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Can u imagine Melania wearing cut off jeans? Michelle also has a big butt & buck teeth which both can be fixed. I wish she would disappear from public view also!!! Melania has class & style & knows how to dress beautifully, unlike Michelle who wore stupid looking sweaters. I bet she bought them at the Dollar store. I was ashamed of her, when she was representing our country. We can be proud of Melania.!!!!!!!

  8. Yes, Melania is so beautiful. and classy. I love her nude photos, when she was a model in 1995. The photos are stunning. She certainly has the distinction of being the first First Lady to have posed nude for a magazine. That is what makes her so distinguished.

  9. A beautiful woman, a real class act as a representative of America to the world. People criticize her accent, which I find charming (the accent). She seems like someone who would be at ease anywhere.

  10. Beauty, class, elegance and intelligence – all wonderful qualities for our First Lady, which we were lacking for the previous 8 years with the former first lady, who was a total disgrace in every way. Melania has not put a foot wrong since becoming First Lady, and she is an asset to our country and to President Trump.

  11. What a difference an election makes.A FLOTUS that is a LADY,gorgeous and classy and does NOT hate America like the past Black Chicago ????.

  12. The Democrats will Always find something wrong with First Lady Melania Trump. And even the Never Trumps but what they fail to notice is what ‘they’ have to say does not spoil her grace, elegance, intelligence nor spoil her compassion for peoples regardless of their background. She indeed wishes the Media et all would not dwell on what she wears but the issue of what Be Best campaign is about which is not about her but about children of the world, their interests, safety, customs, etc. Politics can be so dirty as well as ‘unforgiving’ but for the Trumps it has been one hit after another from the Democrats, RINOS, Never Trumps but President Trump and his Family have remained strong…the American people chose the Right man as he has continued to fight for US All.

  13. First Lady Melania is a very intelligent, beautiful and classy lady. She always seems to be willing to take on learning something new, She represents the US very well and makes me proud that she does. Personally, she can wear what she wants, slacks, jeans and a top, she’s beautiful. She has a beautiful heart and soul that just makes her all that much prettier.

  14. She is the perfect First Lady in all aspects. She doesn’t take any guff and can set a person straight with kindness and witt. President Trump is the perfect companion for her as he is rough, tough and smart. They make a perfect pair!!!! I am proud and delighted with President Trump and our First Lady – we are very luck to have them in our court!!!!! j
