Recent threats against the Jewish community by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio highlight the growing polarization of the two major parties. Since the COVID-19 pandemic upended the country, President Donald Trump and the GOP have negotiated a delicate balance between saving lives and upholding citizens’ constitutional rights. Democrat leaders, on the other hand, have acted like dictators, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s ultimatum he’d arrest mourners at an Orthodox funeral crossed a legal line and one of common decency.
“My message to the Jewish community, and all communities, is this simple: The time for warnings has passed,” Mayor de Blasio recently stated. “I have instructed the NYPD to proceed immediately to summon or even arrest those who gather in large groups. This is about stopping the disease and saving lives. Period.”
The unpopular mayor’s target was antagonistic and bigoted as it put a bull’s eye on the backs of mourners attending the funeral of Rabbi Chaim Mertz. Grieving Orthodox Jews turned out under highly emotional circumstances. Many have lost loved ones to the coronavirus and have already been denied fundamental First Amendment rights to worship in New York City.
Like protestors across the country rejecting draconian mandates by far-left governors in Michigan and Virginia among others, New York’s Jewish community made an informed decision that their religious practice supersedes any voter-given authority the New York mayor may retain. To say the outpouring of faith angered Mayor de Blasio would be an understatement.
“Something absolutely unacceptable happened in Williamsburg tonite: a large funeral gathering in the middle of this pandemic. When I heard, I went there myself to ensure the crowd was dispersed. And what I saw WILL NOT be tolerated,” Mayor de Blasio tweeted. “We will not allow this. I have instructed the NYPD to have one standard for this whole city: zero tolerance.”
The mayor’s disgraceful tweets and actions wreak of personal animus against people of faith. It’s difficult to imagine that in a city with a population upwards of 10 million that any politician would take such offense to a funeral gathering to personally travel to the procession and force the police to break it up.
Anti-Semitism has been on the rise across the country with the Democratic Party now including bigots such as Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib among their ranks. Both extremists have pushed anti-Israel legislation pressuring companies against investing or doing business with America’s ally in the Middle East. Organizations have been vocal about de Blasio aligning himself with other left-wing bigots in the Democratic Party and obvious bias against Jews.
“You’re inviting the antisemitic targeting of Jews & ordering a dangerous escalation of policing, all at once,” Jews for Racial & Economic Justice reportedly tweeted.
Although de Blasio has tried to walk back his Jew-targeting, the New York Post pointed out that the liberal mayor has not imposed a police state on other gatherings that exceed social distancing guidelines.
“The New York Metro area blew off social distancing Tuesday, with hundreds packed shoulder-to-shoulder to catch a glimpse of the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds as they roared overhead in a tribute to coronavirus frontline workers,” the New York Post reportedly stated. “Photos from throughout the region show large crowds jammed together in waterfront parks and venues in New York and New Jersey, looking skyward for a glance at the famous jets.”
No police were called. No one was threatened or arrested. Perhaps de Blasio didn’t recognize any Jewish Americans in the crowds.
Where are the lawyers from ACLU How can they let these politicians get away with violating OUR CIVIL RIGHTS AND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA???

The ACLU, a group way passed their original tenants, have selected outrage and tend to only go after perceived injustices of Blacks, gays, defending abortions and anything the democrats deem important. The anti-Semite behaviors have been, unfortunately, on the rise for quite a while now and no one seems to care much. I would advise my Jewish friends to STOP supporting all Democrats as soon as possible. De Blasio is a horrible example of a human being. He’s enjoying his rise in dictatorship, exaggerated power, being a tyrant and an idiot. De Blasio would have done well if he was a member of Hilter’s inner circle. Disgusting and shameful. All Americans should be outraged at him and his bigoted, nonsensical behaviors.

This crisis has done several things. In looking for a Silver Lining, Trump’s decision to let most of the power stay local has highlighted the difference in GOP vs Democrat handling of power, when offered. Democrats, widely abused and usurped more powers an dictatorial reach. Republicans leaned more toward restraint and gave up more power sooner, trusting in We, the people. This, just as an election cycle begins.
I think the so-called governor of the state should put his foot up this mayors ass and step in, the so-called mayor can do as he wants but everyone else must Obe, what a crock of and pice of shit he is.

Is it actually Democratic VS Republican? Or is it NE Democrat VS NE Republican? I have lived south of Mason/Dixon my entire life except for a brief stint in Maryland and another in Philadelphia (total less than 1 of my 79 years). Here in the south we pretty well let politics and politicians do their own thing, as long as it doesn’t tramp on the Constitutions of our wonderful Country and State. I think it is just a “Southern Thing” as we believe in “Live and Let Live”. Whatever it may be, the sitting mayor of NYC (in my NOT SO humble opinion) has his priorities skewed. His job is to do the people’s will, not his own personal will. When the next election comes around (if ever with this COVID-19) remember his usurping of the United States most sacred document, the Constitution of the United States! He needs to be voted out of office in a landslide! He is not acting “For the people, of the people” rather his own personal prejudices which doesn’t cut it! The ONLY solution is for the people of NYC to vote him out and park his ass on the curb!
