Over the weekend, Rasmussen released a poll showing that President Donald Trump is just 1 point behind Democratic nominee Joe Biden — which probably means he’s actually ahead by five points.
We all know how this goes by now — if the polls show the Republican candidate behind by one or two points, that really means that the Republican is winning. To be fair, Rasmussen tends to be more favorable to the right than Gallup or some of the other polls, but that’s only because nearly all of those are a shoe-in for Democrats no matter what.
President Trump’s surge in popularity is easy to understand. We just sat through two weeks of both major political parties laying out their agenda for everyone to see. Two weeks ago, Joe Biden and the Democrats portrayed America as a bleak and tragic place to live — wrought with racist cops itching to kill black Americans, as if we are still stuck in 1619 as the New York Times would have us believe. Last week, President Trump and the Republicans painted a picture of hope — a message of light in the midst of darkness.
It wasn’t just the conventions. The situation in Kenosha, Wisconsin — which is really just a sequel to the episode in Minneapolis — has exposed Democrat derision for law and order, as well as a cynical will to exploit any issue for political gain. Progressive pundits hopped onboard the narrative as quickly as they could, even as police tapes reveal that Jacob Blake wasn’t the Good Samaritan Don Lemon wants you to think that he was.
Once again, Democrats are doing most of Trump’s campaigning for him. Here’s Andrew Klavan with more analysis:
