Simpson’s Character Apu Axed Over Leftist Complaints

It finally happened — Apu, the classic Simpsons character, has been removed from the cartoon in the latest sign of PC virtue signaling.

For those unfamiliar with the show, Apu was an Indian American who was presented as a hardworking immigrant who humorously embodied many Indian stereotypes. In case you have been living under a rock, just about every character on The Simpsons does the same — there is a plump police officer who eats donuts all day, a racist redneck, a mischievous millionaire, and we could go on and on.

Apparently, Apu was removed over the assumption that Indian Americans watching the show were offended. Strangely, there were no complaints in the early 2000s when the show was already over a decade old. This is, as InfoWars talker Paul Joseph Watson puts it in the video below, “peak 2018” virtue signaling.

Granted, this doesn’t have many political ramifications, and The Simpsons has been replaced several times over in terms of irreverent family comedy since its first broadcast in 1989. However, it does speak to the state of our culture. Are we really going in the right direction if minority cartoon characters are scrapped over the vaguest of complaints from left-wingers who have nothing better to do?

Paul Joseph Watson has the full story below.

  1. This more than ridiculous! I don’t watch it because it’s not my cup of tea. But this is a free country. If you don’t like it, for any reason, then be like me and DON’T WATCH IT!!! Lord knows there’s plenty of other things to watch or do instead.

  3. They will take the Simpsons off the air but they won’t take the view off with all the nasty remarks they make about our President.

  4. Leftists must be eradicated along with islam and every other freedom hating scum. How much more of their bullshirt are we going to take?

    1. The only ones who truly love freedom for all are the so-called “liberals”. Conservatives want freedom only for themselves and those like them, but not for anyone not like them.

  5. Liberalisma polite word for Socialism which leads to Communism !
To me it is obvious that many public schools have increasingly become nothing short of indoctrination centers that teach young students anti-Americanism.
Whatever happened to patriotism and love of country through knowledge, understanding sacrifice and service.
Reminds me, checking out at the store, a young cashier suggested to a much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags, because plastic bags are not good for the environment.
The woman apologized to the young girl and explained, “Well, we didn’t have this “green thing” back in my earlier days.”
The young clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.”
The older lady remarked our generation didn’t have the “green thing” in its day.
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so they could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didn’t have the “green thing” back in our day.
Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribbling’s. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags.
We walked up stairs because we didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.
But she was right. We didn’t have the “green thing” in our day.
Back then we washed the baby’s diapers because we didn’t have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that young lady is right–we didn’t have the “green thing” back in our day.
Back then we had one TV, or radio, in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family’s $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the “green thing.” We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks are just because we didn’t have the “green thing” back then?
Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart-ass young person.
We don’t like being old in the first place, so it doesn’t take much to piss us off…
***Especially from a tattooed, multiple pierced smart-ass who can’t make change without the cash register telling them how much.
Don’t forget to VOTE in the 2018 elections; President Trump/Pence still needs our support to appoint new conservative judges, drain the swamp, secure our borders, fix the immigration problem…Trump 2020…Keeping America Great !!!

      1. Please post this on Facebook or somewhere that young people might accidentally read it! It is a great article and absolutely true! Thank you for reminding us old people that we took better care of the planet than these young people are doing and our solutions were not higher taxes on pollutants!

    1. Richard, right on! Oh the good old days. Remember 3 tv channels, if you were lucky, only AM radio , 45’s for records, or a 10 to 12 song 33rmp. One car, camping in a tent; one bathroom in house, though a few I knew still used an outhouse, a furnace that would stop working the coldest night in winter. I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything.

    2. Thank you Richard for reminding me of how I was raised with a mindset of ‘waste not, want not’. More physical labor involved resulting in healthier people. If something malfunctioned we would repair or rebuild it before considering Trash and Replace. And if trashed, would first dismantle to save parts to be repurposed – why run to the hardware store to buy nuts and bolts when we already salvaged them.
Plastics were not too plentiful at the grocery store. Besides what you mentioned, meats were wrapped in butcher paper instead of sitting on Styrofoam and covered by plastic wrap. Many of our vegetables were picked fresh from the garden or saved in reusable glass canning jars instead of plastic. The same hand crank can opener was hung on the kitchen wall for 20 years. Milk came in bottles, paperboard cartons or fresh from the neighbor’s cow. Eggs came fresh from the hen house or in cardboard containers, which do still exist.
Unfortunately, too many have become too accustomed to life in the fast lane and can not even consider replacing a bad power cord, grow vegetables, pick blackberries or even cut their own grass. We have become a nation of Consumers with very few Producers.

  6. My biggest complaint with Hollywood is that most of the shows that I find entertaining end up disgusting me with some of the main characters turning out to be LGBTQIA with their lifestyle choices toooo obviously displayed and discussed without contributing to the main plot at all. So much so that I am reverting to mostly older show reruns like Andy Griffith, Black Sheep, MASH, Bonanza, etc. Their propaganda is managing to turn this compassionate and tolerant viewer from ‘live and let live’ to ‘live and let die’.

    1. I refuse to watch network tv, revamped shows (Hawaii 50, Magnum, ) others , like you mentioned that shove alternative lifestyles in our face. I enjoy the classics from the 50’s, 60’s . I have an extensive classic film library, would rather enjoy watching a good Bogart, Bette Davis, etc movie any day than the garbage out now.

  7. Oh and lets not forget the home remedies we used like an ice pack for headaches or hot pack for muscle aches. We breathed steam over a pot of water on the stove for congestion. We did not spend half our paycheck on various medicines and pills. You, young person, are the result of your parents popping pills themselves and medicating you so they wouldn’t have to deal with the exuberance and curiosity of youth. Pacify them not teach them how to live on their own, make good life choices, and act like a grown up in society. Kids just got older not wiser because they were not given examples to follow nor taught any life skills. Mom will do it all for you. That’s why, young person, you have 40 year old babies living with mom in her basement playing video games and eating hot pockets all day. That is after they sleep until 2pm. Pitiful how things have changed.

  8. Today’s rampant socialism is a disease that begs for a cure. Like any disease, it is opportunistic – in this case taking advantage of jealousy, apathy and ignorance. It has taken over the once-proud Democratic Party, and is expanding by recruiting all the “have-nots” and “illegals” with promises of more free stuff and amnesty.

  9. Apu removed due to his race. Such a Democrat act of racism exposed. He should have claimed to be Aryan. But he is a fictional character that is the brunt of a Joe Biden ”joke”.

  10. Political correctness in films has been going on for some times. The first time I became aware of it was about 40 years ago when I went looking for a copy of “The Song of the South”, a Disney animated story of Uncle Remus telling the tale of Brer Rabbit.

I had seen the movie when I was a kid and wanted to get it for my children, however it was not available for purchase in the USA because it portrayed a kindly, old black man with an unacceptable accent telling the story. I found a copy in England, bought it, and had it put on VHS tape in the American format. My kids loved it. Too bad all people can’t have the warm, loving character of Uncle Remus accent or not.

It’s one of Disney’s best films, but chances are you’ll never see it. You can see porn, and you can see violent black/white/Asian/American Indian men commit all kind of horrors, but you can’t see a kindly, old black man tell a story about a rabbit, a bear, a coyote, a tar baby, and a briar patch because he has an old time black accent.

What a great film, and I can still remember the song -“Zippa de do dah, zippa de day. My oh my what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine heading my way. Zippa de do dah, zippa de day! Mr, Bluebird’s on my shoulder. It’s the truth. It’s actual. Everything is satisfactual. Zippa de do dah, zippa de day.” Hard to have a song like that anymore with all the political correctness demanded by so many “touchy/feeley, over sensitized, guardians of the English language.

  11. Richard that was the best thing I have read in days. I grew up in the environment you have described and still try to replicate it again. Yes I am one of those old guys that walked the four miles to school ,, of coarse it was ” Up Hill ” in the rain and snow.
And yes I remember the teachers telling us to remove the paper covers from our books before returning them. My brother was much bigger than me so my clothes were made by mom on a peddle powered sewing machine. My first car was a 1953 MG TD. while the others had big engine powered Fords and Chevys. . That car created my career in English cars that brought me to a meeting with a man that wanted a special Rolls Royce back in 78. A wonderful gentleman , honest, friendly, direct and to the point. So I found the car he wanted and did the restoration on it and stayed in the parameters of our agreement. He said thank you and shook my hand then he left a generous tip for the mechanics that did the work and then he left.
I never thought he would become the President of the United States. That man won my vote forty years ago. and now it is time for all of us to help him again. VOTE RED

  12. Haha
The producers never said they were getting rid of Apu.
But thanks for trying to blame the left.
Where do you buy your tinfoil from?

  13. Wait a minute. At the time of its release; “Conservative” Christians railed against the Simpson’s as entertainment that celebrated family dysfunction, and urged all Christians NOT to join the celebration by patronizing it. Now that it’s under attack by the PC Police, we are to come to its rescue?! Here is where I start to detest “Conservative” Christianity… While hypocrisy is certainly rampant on the Left, it’s also rampant on the Right. Who’s side are we on people?! Continued patronization of the NFL by “Conservative” Christianity is a more CURRENT example of just how much full of crap and hypocrisy we “Conservatives” really are. And yet we wonder about the USA’s continuing cultural and political decline into socialism and communism?! God forgive, and have mercy on our blind hypocritical asses…

  14. So they’re worried about the Simpsons offending someone – AFTER THIRTY YEARS ON THE AIR!!! This is beyond insane! Yet no one bats an eye at Family Guy, who regularly makes fun of the handicapped, black, Jewish, women, AIDS, racial humor, sexual humor, is gory, offensive, has a dog that sleeps with women, etc., – and even the father on that series treats his family like garbage and is disgusting, and it is still on the air and all of the characters have remained. Why? Because the creator of the series is a liberal. The creator of The Simpsons is not. Is there a pattern here? Why aren’t liberals up in arms over this show? Change the channel if you don’t like it.

  15. I had a sibling that worked in social services in Boston. He said to me on at least one occasion that if any tv program that should be off the air, it was the Simpsons. The families/ kids that his department had to deal with didn’t need a show that glorified dysfunctional families and bratty kids.
I remember only seeing one episode of the Simpsons, didn’t entertain me at all, so haven’t wasted my time watching it. I also don’t watch any of the so called prime time cartoons.
Bring back the Looney toons for good cartoons.

  16. the hypocrisy of the Left Wingers is not more evident than in this censoring of an iconic moral analyzer than the Simpsons! It’s happening in the movies, TV shows and the entertainment field, in general, to portray ‘inclusiveness’ and equal status, with the white character! (Watched a German film (gay orientated) regarding the bullying of this gay kid in a local high school. The local of the film was a village in the Alps and all the students (shown) were white, except for one student who was black. Well it turns out she becomes his sympathetic girlfriend, defending him from all those other bigoted classmates!I don’t object to this relationship, but I do object to its incongruity! It’s like a black girl (I mean Afro-American!) in Harlem having as her love interest a white dude! (I’m sure the brothers would have something to say about that!) Again it’s this forced relationships and sensitivity acuity? that distorts the narrative and twists it into a pretzel reality!

  17. In the 50’s, all you had to do was accuse someone of being a communist and all hell broke loose on that person’s life. Now, that’s exactly where we are headed with all these dumicrats and political correctness crap. Does anybody remember the show Tattletales with Burt Convey? Today he would be arrested for some of the comments he made on that show. What happened to “Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion?” Why do the alphabet people think we want to see them making out with each other on TV… Gross! deport the dumicrats and really make our country great again!

  18. You’re full of shit, a producer on the show since it was first aired in 1989 posted on twitter that they weren’t removing Apu and that anyone who said they wer didn’t speak for the show. Stop blaiming liberals like the panty waste douchebag conservative that you are, pounting your finger at the supposed “enemy” you’re told to hate because Trump or some other cocksucker with an agenda told you to. I hope Roe vs. Wade stays in effect so that you can abort this deformed, malnourished fetus of a website and save yourself some trouble. Do you ever look at yourself in the mirror and regret hating a politically aligned group of people just because it’s the trendy thing to do or do you do it because it’s what fills your moth filled wallet, right next to the 30 year old rubber you swore you’d use on the first day of college but held on to because you’ve never had a woman in your life. It would explain why you sat there and angrily rant about The Left like a mongoloid that just finished eating paint chips for dinner, also here’s what I think of your article

    B======D~~~~~~~

  19. People have lost their frickin minds! Who cares if a white guy does Apu’s voice!!! IT’S ACTING!! Why has this suddenly become a problem when the show has been on 29 years now? If you don’t like it, watch something else, or better yet, scrap the show entirely! Homer makes American fathers look terrible and Chief Wiggum is a disgrace to the police force! Not to Patty and Selma smoke cigarettes. (Nobody says anything about children watching a cartoon which has characters smoking… I guess that’s innocent )

  20. I don’t watch the show, and my kids have been long gone, but this is quite likely another instance where the Libs want to make everyone know that THEY are the final arbiter of what is righteous or not! Most of the time what they think is hurtful or wrong is often acceptable and enjoyed by it’s participants. The LEFT has a whole herd of thing they need to correct themselves over before they begin on other people! I’m sorry to have to say it, but most of their complaining is invalid and sickening! They are far from being the people whom should decide what is wrong or right!

  21. I actually talked to some East Indian co-workers. They always thought the character was a tad over the top. They aren’t communists, or even democrats. Just like we don’t have pygmies blow darting bugs bunny anymore , things change , and just because things change doesn’t mean it’s for the worse.

  22. Most of the free stuff goes to people in RED states. Red states are supported by taxpayers in the BLUE states, like me!

  23. It’s a shame that people can no longer laugh at themselves, and each other, and their little quirks. These days, people become offended by the tiniest unintended and/ or incidental, remark or gesture.
We have a poster on here who denigrates one ideology, but can’t see that if it were reversed, would be a perfect fit for their own.
We, as a society, have become just the opposite of what “diversity” was intended to do. Instead of everyone accepting each others differences, we now hate one another BECAUSE of those differences.
It seems to me that diversity has become a monumental failure, and yet, certain ideological entities insist on shoving that same ineffectual, failed experiment, down our throats, at an ever increasing frequency.
I fear that our once great country, unified by its Democratic Republic and love of that country, will soon be splintered into a Balkan-like state with individual areas who are in open warfare with the others.
Most of Europe is already becoming much that way, and it will get worse before it gets better, if it ever does get better.
Very sad state of affairs because people just LOVE social engineering, rather than just leave well enough alone!
