The Republicans Who Betrayed the Conservative Movement

The name Benedict Arnold has become synonymous with the word “traitor”, and conservative Americans may want to call out a few more turncoats. Prominent senators, a supposed impartial FBI chief and a wide range of others have strategically undermined the conservative movement all while pretending to be a part of it.

As incoming White House Director of Communications Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci said in a recent interview, these types of treasons and leakers would have been “hung 150 years ago.” Many self-proclaimed “Conservatives” simply cannot be trusted now that the chips are on the table, and they have a president ready to turn the movement’s principles into law.

ObamaCare Traitors

After seven years of running on “Repeal and Replace ObamaCare”, Republican senators have back-pedaled and balked at passing legislation to fulfill their promises. It was easy to vote “Yea” when they had Barack Obama lurking with veto power. But with a White House chomping at the bit to eradicate the destructive un-Affordable Care Act, Red State politicians appear to be turning Blue — and it’s not for lack of oxygen.

Although agreement on a replace measure has yet to find complete consensus, seven Republicans joined the Left to vote down a straight repeal that would have forced all parties to the table to fix the broken health care system. That move was just the shove The Swamp needed, and opposing it was a small group of conspirators that included:

• Sens. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.
• Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.
• Susan Collins, R-Maine
• Dean Heller, R-Nev.
• John McCain, R-Ariz.
• Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska
• Rob Portman, R-Ohio

Senators Collins and Murkowski are earning a widespread reputation for breaking ranks with the White House on key conservative issues. Both failed to fully support pro-school choice advocate and now education boss Betsy DeVos. Are these two misguided, or are they traitors to the conservative movement? They have aligned with the Left on health care and other issues, and are RINOs at the very least.

A Modern Day Benedict Arnold

Originally a revered military general during the American Revolutionary War, Benedict Arnold was a Continental Army commander at West Point. His plan was to surrender the position to the British in an act of treason.

Similarly, John McCain was a soldier who was captured and tortured in Vietnam. After returning stateside, he launched a political campaign founded on his “war hero” status, patriotism and the conservative agenda. Once considered a “maverick,” after a failed presidential bid as the GOP nominee, his politics have become unpredictable.

He even seemed to favor Democrat Hillary Clinton during the fall elections at times. Constantly feuding with Donald Trump, McCain continues to advocate for Russian collusion investigations that deliberately undermine the White House’s agenda and message.

McCain was touted a hero after returning to Congress from a brain cancer diagnosis to cast the deciding vote to start ObamaCare repeal debate. But in the 11th hour, when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put a “skinny” repeal on the table, John McCain joined the Collins and Murkowski to tip the scales 51-49 in favor of Democrats and maintain an imploding system.

Americans lost that big league vote when McCain ultimately cast the deciding ballot against working families everywhere. Following the vote, Texas Senator Ted Cruz said, “There are going to be a great many Americans who tonight feel a sense of betrayal.” A group of liberals protesting could be heard chanting, “Thank you John McCain.” This overt act of betrayal makes McCain the Benedict Arnold of our times.

FBI Operatives

It’s no secret that fired FBI Director James Comey took direction from the Obama Department of Justice to downplay the Hillary Clinton email investigation. It’s also common knowledge that he leaked private conversations with the president to Left-leaning media sources. He’s admitted as much. It would be difficult to say he was faithful to his oath.

But, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has been less forthright about his affiliations that oppose the president. His wife received upwards of $700,000 from Democratic sources at the urging of Hillary Clinton, and he did not disclose this conflict.

Further, he remained at the head of ongoing investigations pertaining to the Russian Witch Hunt attempting to tie the Trump Administration to collusion. Disturbing leaks continue to infect investigative bodies such as the FBI and McCabe has yet to recuse himself.
The Mooch is right about one thing, 150 years ago these scurrilous dogs wouldn’t dare backstab Americans.
