Trump Admin Ready to Ink Deal with Post-Brexit U.K.

The British exit from the European Union marks a rare opportunity for the Trump Administration to broker a landmark trade agreement that raises the bar on American prosperity.

The U.K. parliament has been embroiled in a bitter political battle since voters won a majority to opt-out of the EU in what has been called Brexit. Issues such as open borders and fewer economic benefits for working Brits underscored a populist movement that narrowly defeated Europe’s globalist elites. With conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson leading the charge, a U.S.-U.K. trade agreement is expected to get fast-tracked.

During the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, U.S. Treasury Sec. Steve Mnuchin engaged in preliminary talks with his British counterparts. The conventional wisdom appears to be that Prime Minister Johnson favors hashing out a new deal with the U.S. and EU by year’s end.

“What I saw coming out was that they wanted to accomplish both these deals in 2020. That’s obviously an aggressive timetable,” Sec. Mnuchin reportedly said. “That’s an absolute priority of President Trump, and we expect to complete that with them this year, which we think will be great for them and great for us.”

President Donald Trump has made it abundantly clear that he sees making a bilateral agreement with the U.K. a cornerstone of both enhanced trade and nationals security interests. Officials are also optimistic that they can leverage certain stumbling blocks with regard to dealing with the EU that will prove advantageous for everyday Americans. Recent dust-ups over French President Macron targeting U.S. social media outlets such as Facebook with tariffs prompted Pres. Trump to respond in kind by hitting wine and cheese. Macron backed down. But the EU has a long history of imposing higher tariffs on imports of their trade partners. By contrast, Pres. Trump has leaned toward a balanced, free trade agreement with the U.K. because the two economies are quite similar.

“I know what the US will be pitching for when they negotiate a free-trade deal with us. They will pitch for massively greater access for agricultural products. People talk about chlorinated chicken — it is a lot more than that. Farmers in America vote for Trump, pretty much all of them vote for Trump,” former British Ambassador to the U.S. Nigel Kim Darroch reportedly said. “They also want us to pay the same for American pharmaceuticals as they pay in their own market. Do they want us to pay more for their pharmaceuticals? Do the pharmaceutical companies want to use this leverage? Of course, they do.”

Although China unfairly targeted American farmers in that trade war, the Trump Administration worked with Congress to provide support before delivering perhaps the most beneficial trade agreement for the agricultural sector in history. Hashing out the details with the U.K. would mark the Trump Administration’s fourth major deal. To date, NAFTA has been replaced with the USMCA, Japan signed a Phase I agreement, and China buckled and agreed to a one-sided deal that favors the U.S. America is already riding a wave of unprecedented prosperity after making a complete reversal of the Obama-Biden policies.

“The special relationship means that … We are deeply aware of the shared values of our people,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reportedly said. “The last administration had a policy of putting the U.K. at the back of the line. We intend to put the U.K. at the front of the line. This is a historic relationship.”

And the prospect of another liberal globalist reversal — coupled with a Trump Administration win for the American people — has Democrats unhappy. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has already begun undermining the process by trying to link a bilateral trade deal to the long-standing unrest in Northern Ireland. It’s a bizarre political spin, but one the fake news media is likely to support.

“Whatever form it takes, Brexit cannot be allowed to imperil the Good Friday Agreement, including the seamless border between the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland, especially now, as the first generation born into the hope of Good Friday 21 years ago comes into adulthood. We cannot go back,” Speaker Pelosi said. “If Brexit undermines the Good Friday accord, there will be no chance of a U.S.-U.K. trade agreement passing the Congress.

Democrats are resisting and obstructing the America First trade deal even before negotiations begin. Go figure.

  1. Doing things God’s way (Fairness and Equity for ALL) leads to prosperity for ALL – One Grateful Patriot. Team Trump and his allies 2020.

    1. AMERICANS WE HAVE TO TAKE BACK OUR AMERICA FROM THE EVIL CRIMINAL ACTS OF DEMOCRATS………………………..TO SOLVE AMERICAS PROBLEMS MAKE THIS CHOICE WE THE PEOPLE’ HAVE THE POWER OF OUR VOICES AND OUR VOTES, TO VOTE OUT THE ENTIRE LYING,CORRUPT, TREASONOUS DEMOCRAT PARTY COME NOV 2020, VOTE TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN AND TO END ALL CORRUPTIONS IN WASHINGTON GOVERNMENT

  2. It is very typical of the libtards. Just like their impeachment plans started before Trump took office. Now they are turning against a UK trade deal before they know what’s in it.
There have never been more anti American people in congress than Pelousy, Schiff, Shumer, Nadler, Tlib, Cortes, Waters, etc. Time to clean the swamp…….long overdue!

    1. Shouldn’t we pass the Trade Deal with Britain before the Devilcrats get to see what’s in it? Why not? According to Nancy Pigloser, they had to pass Obamacare before anyone could know what was in it, so the same applies here.

  3. It is very encouraging to read positive posts here – speaking from “Across the pond” I too believe our future agreement will be naturally beneficial to both the USA and UK . Ignore the strange rumblings of that childish loser Kim Darroch – he is obviously suffering from an attack of “Pelodemonitis” which I understand to be socially fatal when contracted by ex-diplomats ( granted in his case it was debateable whether the term “diplomat” ever applied – more of a “Plonker” ). 😉

  4. We can’t buy anything here in the U.S. that is NOT “ Made in China” . It will great to get British made Products.

  5. What Pigloci didn’t say is that it doesn’t have to pass the entire Congress. It just has to be ratified by the Senate, which she does not control.

  6. I have a modest Irish proposal for Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Arrange for delivery of two wheelbarrows of overripe tomatoes to the House of Lords so they could have a food fight over Brexit. Have the BBC film it and syndicate it. Use the revenue to fund the compensation of the people to make this trade deal reality. If that idea works for the House of Lords, so a sequel with the House of Commons. Sound like a good idea?

    1. Sorry about the fat finger: my bad. “so a sequel” should be “do a sequel.”

On second thought, maybe our President of the United States (POTUS) should arrange for delivery of overripe tomatoes to the U.S. House of Representatives but distribute the tomatoes to even the odds between the political parties. The farmers might even be willing to donate the tomatoes for the event.

Give the most tomatoes to the Republicans. Give no tomatoes to the independents and RINOs because they cannot make up their minds about who they are or who they represent. Let the sergeant at arms start the fight by saying, “Let the games begin.” Require Polosi to sit in the Speaker Chair during the conflict. Everyone knows that she is the lighning rod, so both sides may choose her as the alternate target. That would be a reality show worth seeing, dontcha think?
