After the recent attack on U.S. Border Patrol officers by the migrant caravan mob and attempts to extort American taxpayers to the tune of $50,000, Pres. Donald J. Trump occupies a no-lose situation in the border wall fight.
His insistence that Congress immediately provide $5 billion in border security that includes approximately 215 miles of wall funding has the full support of the American people. A recent poll indicates that two-thirds of supporters back Pres. Trump shutting down the government until Congress provides the funding to secure the southern border.
In a recent dust-up with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and expected incoming House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the pair of Democrats refused to provide additional funding to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.
“The last time, Chuck, you shut it down,” Pres. Trump said. “If we don’t get what we want … I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck.”
Among the groups polled, 47 percent of the president’s base supporters feel strongly that he should in no way, shape or form compromise on border security. A majority of working-class Americans and those living in rural areas say that the president should not just insist on the short-term $5 billion, but the entire $25 billion required to complete a comprehensive border security initiative. All told, a reported 67 percent of those who voted to put the Republican in the White House identify border security and the proposed wall as an immediate and necessary priority.
“In February of this year 44 Democrats including Schumer, voted for a bill that had $25 billion for a wall. In 2013 Schumer helped create a bill that I was part of that had $8 billion for a wall — $42 billion for securing the border in other ways,” South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said. “So, they’re just — they want Trump to lose more than they want the country to win.”
But based on voting poll statistics, Pres. Trump is in the driver’s seat regarding political clout. Regardless of whether he shuts down the government and breaks Democrats’ political will or secures immediate funding, the voting base that elected the Washington outsider will likely return to the 2020 election booths in spades.
Unlike Democrats, the president will be relatively unaffected by the biased mainstream media who have grossly overplayed their hand. More than 90 percent of the liberal media reporting is negative against Pres. Trump, and declining ratings at outlets such as CNN show Americans are tuning out and don’t believe the propaganda when they hear it. Simply put, Pres. Trump enjoys a no-lose political position. However, the same cannot be said for the country.
While Republicans control both houses until the end of the year, a bill that includes the requested $5 billion has been floated in the House. However, liberal donors that exploit illegal immigrants for cheap labor have tasked Democrats with attaching some unsavory add-ons should. Corporate liberal backers pushing for open borders have managed to get the following tacked on:
- A form of amnesty for DACA illegals
- Renewed Obama-era catch and release mandates
- Automatic refugee status for migrants
- 200,000 green cards for India citizens
- The tripling of H-2B visas for foreign workers
The bill would not offer additional funding for the Border Patrol to detain illegal migrants or hire the additional 1,000 ICE agents requested by the Department of Homeland Security — despite the increase of illegal immigrants penetrating the country’s southern border.
“I think the president and people like me need to make the case to the American people that they’re denying this president money that makes sense. The difference between $1.6 billion and $5 billion is what we’re talking about,” Sen. Graham added. “He’s in a good spot, dig in, make the case that this money is necessary and challenge the Democrats to work with you on DACA, plus the wall. And if they say no to that, that means they really do hate Trump more than they care about the country and that will blow up in their face.”

I believe our President is right. Build the wall.
Build the wall! Next, address our serious immigration law shortcomings. Eliminate the visa lottery immediately. Crack down on chain migration. Eliminate birthrite citizenship. And realize that “comprehensive” reform of anything– witness the ACA– invites a hodgepodge of ineffective and unnecessary provisions. The biggest problem with eating an elephant is deciding where to take the first bite.
Common sense seems to be totally lacking with the Democrats. Nancy Pelosi needs to go first. Then that horrible Maxine waters. What evil women. We need President Trump to shut down the government to get money for security against our enemies which are many. I collect from the government and am willing to forgo in order to protect our border. What the Republicans, FOX, and the president need to do, over and over and over again, is challenge the Democrats with the words of their own leaders. So, cite, quote, and play the words of Schumer, Clinton, and Obama regarding their past support for border security and/or a physical barrier at the border in every journalistic piece on the debate(news video, radio, writing), every encounter with Democrats face-to-face and every time the subject is discussed and debated(on the floors of Congress, in televised forums, etc.) What’s more, I would organize an ad campaign of some sort on this, with the video footage of Hillary asserting a “barrier is needed”, Schumer being unequivocal about the need for border security, et al., from the Democrat pantheon) . President Trump has video of it on a tweet BUT he should now (and should have) mention(ed) it when on camera with Pelosi and Schumer (then) every opportunity. There isn’t even a need to debate the border wall on its merits (which, btw, are compelling, plentiful, and credible) just confront the issue, vis-a-vis the Democrats, by asking why were they and their party were for it then, but not now?
The american people want to be safe build the wall no matter what it cost!!!!!!! Dem need to respect the President!!!!
I live on the borders for 35 and news never reports how much crime will drugs. I noticed that Polesi didn’t mention the Border Patrol officer that was murdered by illegals, they beat him with stones. The little girls body and she had been raped by at least 20 men. The caravan people are being used. Border Patrol officers should send Nancy a report on crime Everyday. She doesn’t care about anyone. 40% of illegals in this country are from overstay visas? So it is estimated that we have some 22 million illegals in the country, It makes no sense to continue to have a porous wall along our southern border. How about using the Army Corp of Engineers to build the wall? The Democrats keep playing games with our security and all they are interested in is to build their number of voters, enough is enough.
Most countries have highly defined and secured borders which are rigorously protected. Why the democrats defy these facts remains a mystery. Of course the vast majority of intelligent, educated voters who oppose the endless list of freebies promoted by the democrats to buy votes are Republicans!
Catch the inland illegal aliens and release them in Pitylosi’s and Chucky Scumer’ immediate neighborhood and make sure they have their address as a sanctuary.
