Trump Speaks to the U.N. — His Boldest Address Yet?

President Donald Trump has certainly faced his share of scrutiny for what he says behind the podium. There is no doubt he brings a swagger to public appearances that perhaps no other president has employed since the Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan. Trump’s natural speech patterns border on New York street edge, and he was able to bring this full bore to the United Nations.

Without foregoing any of his trademark ad libs, colloquial asides or informalities, President Trump was able to hold the entire UN Assembly at attention with one of the strongest representations of the United States in quite some time. It is long overdue, and it is also just in time.

Many of America’s European allies are suffering death and destruction from a lack of poise in the face of terrorist organizations. Their flaccid military response was reflected in the weak speeches from their premiers at the United Nations. President Trump was the only Free World leader who took it to North Korea and terrorism with a straight face and straight talk.

You can always tell what is really being said by who responds. If the Iranian President doesn’t like what you say, then you are probably saying the right thing. It became apparent during Hassan Rouhani’s time at the podium that some remarks had been added specifically to address what Trump had said previously. Rouhani, whose nation is under fire for housing terrorist cells and selling weapons to terrorist, denounced President Trump’s speech as “hateful” and “ignorant.”

Good.

There is very little to be gained from negotiating with nations such as Iran. As President Trump stated clearly in his speech, the world today is set up in very black and white terms. There are good people, and there are bad people. The good people are doing commerce, raising families and enjoying freedom. The bad people are doing everything they can to stop the good people from living this sort of life. What sort of compromise can be made here?

President Trump may also have saved the entire West Coast of the United States with the sarcastic but quite poignant quote that everyone is running with – the referral to North Korean leader Kim Jung Un as “Rocket Man.”

North Korea may be just stupid enough to launch a nuclear attack on the United States. However, this possibility is much less possible after President Trump’s remarks. Why? Because President Trump is speaking the language of Kim Jung Un – purposefully childish and direct. Some people only understand violence, and Kim Jung Un has definitely proven himself to be one of those people.

The liberal media wants to pretend as though the entire speech was as adolescent as the single remark directed at the adolescent Kim Jung Un. The truth is that the 45-minute speech was one of the most professional given at the UN this year. It addressed science, employment and world politics from the position that the United States should address these issues – from the front.

The speech also opened up many discussions between the United States and rogue nations that have been known to harbor terrorists. After the speech was given, the King of Jordan sought out President Trump to speak with him. This is not a normal thing. Iran was finally put out to political pasture in a direct way. This is not a normal thing.

Outside of the camera’s glow, many European leaders spoke with President Trump to understand exactly how he can speak in such a direct way. They were really looking for protection. This is a normal thing. However, the president has made it apparent that protection from the United States will be given only from a position of mutual respect from now on. This is the great negotiation that the president referred to during his campaign.

The UN usually gives provides a dampening of American values and demoralization for its citizens. Although there are a few good reasons for the United States to remain inside the UN body, there is no reason that the United States should bend to the will of nations that do not know how to conduct themselves in true sovereignty.

President Donald Trump, while protecting the values and lives of the United States, was also able to remind the good countries of the world that they have a duty to their citizens.
