U.S. Moving Embassy To Jerusalem May Cost Dems Jewish Vote

Unlike his predecessors, Pres. Donald J. Trump made good on his promise to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and Democrats could suffer losses from Jewish voters.

What many Americans may not realize in this age of political polarization is that moving the embassy has been a long-standing bipartisan issue dating back to at least 1995. Sponsored by statesman Bob Dole, Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 that garnered a 93-5 Senate vote and 374-37 in the House. With Democrat Bill Clinton in the White House, the legislation became law without a presidential John Hancock. Clinton, like other presidents, had made a campaign promise to move the embassy. When the time came, he balked and did nothing.

The Jerusalem Embassy Act allocated the funds and empowered each president the authority to recognize the true capitol of Israel. Each had the option of kicking the can down the road every six months by claiming “national security” prevented them from exercising their lawful right. To the disappointment of the Jewish people, Pres. Clinton sat on his hands as he coddled Middle Eastern warlords and rogue regimes.

Pres. George W. Bush had every reason to postpone the move after the 9-11 Attacks and ensuing War on Terror. Making such a change during a hot war would have put Israelis and Americans in harm’s way. But Obama took another tact. He turned his back on Israel after claiming “victory” in the Middle East, handed Iran $150 billion in ransom money and favored radical Muslims over American allies.

And now we come to it. Today’s Democrats prove they are more interested in “resist” and “obstruct” antics than supporting one of America’s greatest allies and friends. Throwing the Jewish people under the bus will cost them votes come the mid-term elections.

Are Democrats Anti-Semitic?

When it was politically advantageous to court Jewish voters in 1995, career Democrats were quick to cast a “yea” vote. The high-profile Democrats still haunting the Washington, D.C., swamp today include:

  • Sen. Diane Feinstein
  • Then-Sen. Joe Biden
  • Rep. Nancy Pelosi
  • Rep. Maxine Waters
  • Then-Rep. Chuck Schumer
  • What may stun American voters today is that 30 of the 37 “nay” votes in the U.S. House were cast by Democrats. Also, then-Independent Bernie Sanders voted against recognizing Israel’s true capitol.

Since Trump made the decision to officially recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol, anti-Trump liberals have maligned the decision.

Sen. Feinstein, who ironically voted yes in 1995, Tweeted out that the president was making a “terrible decision.” Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi walked back her yea vote in an effort to placate her never-Trump constituents. Her remarks have reportedly included saying, “In the absence of a negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinians, moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem now may needlessly spark mass protests, fuel tensions, and make it more difficult to reach a durable peace.” Of course, no agreement had been reached when she voted yes in 1995.

Republicans Show Support At Embassy Ceremonies

Conservative Christian Republicans have roundly supported the embassy decision and have never wavered in their support of the Jewish state. Although zero Democrats attended the recent opening ceremonies, several prominent Republicans and members of the Trump family were in attendance.

“I don’t know why the Democrats will not be here, chose not to come. Every member of Congress had the option before them to come and be here. There was no way on Earth we could have inaugurated this embassy without my being here to celebrate it. It’s too important,” Texas Sen. Ted Cruz reportedly said during the event.

Republican Sens. Mike Lee, Lindsey Graham and Dean Heller attended and applauded the president’s commitment to Israel.

“I voted for this in 1995 when I was a freshman member of Congress,” Sen. Graham reportedly said at the ceremony. “Why does it matter? There is nobody who tells us more about Iran than Israel, so Israel makes us safer, and the least we can do is recognize their capital.”

Graham went on to say those opposed to the Jerusalem recognition could “take it up with God.”

Sen. Heller also had powerful words of his own about American politics and interests.

“The fact that President Trump demonstrated the courage to keep his promise, that’s a message heard by our friends and heard by our enemies that America keeps her words and we stand with the nation of Israel,” he reportedly said.

As Jewish-American voters head to the polls in the mid-term elections, they could be asking themselves “which party has our back?” Pres. Trump and fellow Republicans have overwhelmingly answered that question.

    1. President Trump not only kept his promise, it is Biblical that Jersuleaum is the capital of Israel always was in Biblical days and it is again. PTL Palestine is not a country but are people who want to control land which they have no business owning, as it is Israel’s. Wake UP AMERICA Biblical prophecy is being fulfilled, and democrats are scared, but don’t want to take responsible for their action, nor do they want to work for the American people, but don’t mind helping terrorist, or criminals., probably because that is their life style.

      1. Oh come on, the Jews aren’t that smart enough to leave the Democratic Party. When it comes to politics it’s Democrats first, and whatever’s left comes second. The Jews here in the states, are Jews in name only. They could care less what happens to Israel. They like to talk about their ancestral homeland, but that’s all they do. The only decent Jew that I know of is Dennis Prager. Michael Medved is questionable at best.

    2. I have often wondered at the mentality of the “Jewish Vote” in America. The view I believe I have observed is that the “American Jews” are very far from “Natural Supporters” of Israel – in fact they often appear as a very anti-Israel lobby group. I am aware that this comment will doubtless attract harsh criticism from those who DO support Israel, but this is a sincerely held opinion and I believe, one that is upheld by hard facts as we see daily in the online blogs. Take for example the whole Presidential issues surrounding POTUS Donald Trump – the virulent and largely untrue fabricated stories circulating about him appear wholly supported by the very people I would have thought should be jumping up and down CELEBRATING him, yet quite the opposite appears to be the fact – so if American Jews feel so disposed as to reject the only President who has had the strength and courage to keep his promises to Israel, then I am at a loss to understand their true anti-Israel mentality, for they cannot have it both ways and THAT is a fact !

    3. I cannot believe that the Jewish population in America still believes that the demorats stand behind them. THEY DO NOT!!!!! They play their games and tell their lies but they just want your wealth to continue their socialist agenda and then you will be back in slavery again.

    4. Democrats hate jews and I have always wondered how the Jews can stomach to vote for this Crime cabal called Democrat party.

    5. I have never and probably will never understand how American Jews helped put a muslim in the White House. Israel has suffered for that lunacy and will continue to do so. Barry whoever the hell he is and that “Swift Boat” coward John Kerry did everything in their power to get nuclear weapons into Irans hands. Iran fully intends to use those weapons if developed on Israel. Go figure. Kerry is still acting like he has a say in this country F**k John Kerry – he has NO position of authority in this country and for all of his interference he should be arrested and prosecuted under the Logan Act. When they hang his sorry ass I will be glad to provide the rope.

      1. Well said Mike – and if they have forgotten how to tie the “HangMans’ Noose” I will be more than pleased to demonstrate !

    6. Next time you Vote for Democrat you will be voting for a Communist, Socialist, Marxist, Progressive and a whole lot of illegals, or a combination of those listed. They WILL control your life, No Guns, No Free Speech, and we will live under a New Constitution that has already been written by Obama, Soros, and their closest “friends”. Podesta?

    7. We in California have lived under the tax, then tax more regimes of the “Progressive”, party for far too long. Incidentally, how can a party that strives on a continuing basis to force a lifestyle on us like Venezuela or Cuba call themselves. Progressive? They continually try to force socialism down our throats and blame everyone else for their problems. My point is that every and I mean EVERY American who loves God and our Country must get out and vote for a candidate that wants our country back, Back from those who believe in fairy tails like it is OK to allow virile young men to use the girls restroom if they want. Or Islamists who want to destroy us and our way of life to be welcomed into America. After all disappointment is part of life, and the strong learn to move beyond disappointment and succeed. So all you socialists, islamists and sexually diverse and depraved, get over it.

    8. Why Jews support gun-grabbing Dimmocrats and gun control is beyond my active imagination, especially Jewish lawyers, many of whom I met living in Philly for 30+ years. Of course, I did know a mid-20s Jew who did not realize that WWII and the Holocaust were part and parcel, and that was 30 years ago. It’s probably worse today.

    9. If you are of Jewish heritage it is normal to think of a community type existence. An existence where prior agreements are, because of religious moral convictions, carried thru to completion. The “all of us togetherness” of a communal type government system has a special appeal to those folks who are ethnically close knit. To honest folks that’s not really a problem, but our government in Washington is anything but honest.
That Jewish generally close knit attitude has been successfully exploited by the progressive/socialists who unfortunately have no such moral compass that leads them to live up to any prior greement. Whatever they can lie their way out of is OK so long as there is enough time between the betrayals for time to mute the effect.
This move of the embassy may turn the tide, but don’t bet on it.

    10. The Jewish community will continue their zombie support of Democrats no matter what. They are true Democrats in the sense that they only believe what their leaders (Obama, Hillary, etc) tell them. They are programmed to accept being talked down, lied to and patronized. Obama betrayed Israel several times but the American Jewish community stayed with him.

    11. America “IS” built on It’s Christian-Jewish beliefs. Like it or not that’s a FACT! We’re merely helping our long time friend in the middle east. President Trump not only did the RIGHT thing, He did the only thing he could do. APROMISE MADE-A PROMISE KEPT! Thanks Mr. President. What a relief AFTER joy-boy, fundamentalist muslim lov’in obama! The biggest MISTAKE EVER made in America electing a know-nothing liberal anti-America TRAITOR!

    12. It is about time! The Demorats don’t even stand by the Jewish people, I couldn’t believe it in the last election that they didn’t get behind Trump. you can tell that they had been brain-washed a long time ago.
