After a newly-minted Democrat prosecutor in riot-torn Portland refused to prosecute hundreds of violent offenders, Virginia beat them in a game of liberal one-upmanship. The state’s Senate passed a bill that makes attacking a police officer the equivalent of jaywalking.
The Democrat-controlled Senate passed the measure allowing left-wing judges to overrule police and prosecutors and downgrade felony assaults on a 21-15 party-line vote. Even if responsible prosecutions occur, the Virginia bill strips mandatory sentences of six months in jail.
Peaceful community members fear that more frontlines officers will resign or refuse to use reasonable force to restore order. Republicans in the Virginia legislature and U.S. Senate are rightfully outraged.
“We’re sending a message to people that riot in our streets . . . that if you encounter a law enforcement officer you don’t need to be concerned because if you assault them it’s not as serious,” Virginia state Sen. Ryan T. McDougle said.
Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton stood forward denouncing the attack on the men and women who face the dangerous task of stopping left-wing domestic terror organizations that spread violence, such as Antifa.
“This is unhinged. The Democrat Virginia Senate has passed a bill that would dramatically reduce penalties for assaulting a police officer,” Sen. Cotton said. “Liberal politicians are endangering police officers and fueling the riots in our streets.”
As the anti-cop measure moves to the Virginia House, experts anticipate it will again pass along party lines. Democrats hold a 55-45 majority and Gov. Ralph “Blackface” Northam continues to push policies considered among the nation’s most radical. Northam openly declares himself an advocate of gun confiscation from law-abiding citizens, and favors abortion right up until the moment of a mother delivering a child.
Virginia Democrats continue to trend to the far left and have synched their policy positions with West Coast liberals and the Biden-Harris presidential ticket. Since socialists such as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez usurped the party’s platform, Democrats everywhere are falling in line with radicalism.
U.S. Attorney William Barr was forced to intercede in the Portland riots after Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt dismissed charges of assaulting police officers. Schmidt garnered praise from fake news and establishment media outlets such as the New York Times.
“He has not been slow to shake things up: Ten days after taking office, Mr. Schmidt effectively dismissed charges against more than half of about 600 people arrested since the protests began at the end of May,” the New York Times reports.
A.G. Barr filled the law and order void left by the new district attorney. The U.S. Department of Justice plans to prosecute 74 individuals for wide-reaching crimes that include assault, arson, and destruction of property, among others.
Perhaps NYPD Union chief Patrick Lynch said it the best after weighing the Democrats’ national “defund the police” movement pushed in New York City, Oregon, Virginia, and by the Biden-Harris ticket, among many others.
“The message is: police officers are the enemy. The message is: criminals have the right to resist arrest. The message is: if you victimize a vulnerable person, the justice system will not hold you accountable. The criminals have heard that message, and they are taking full advantage,” Lynch reportedly said.

Police Officers do not put on a badge to be assaulted. If you resist arrest & fight or struggle with a Police Officer that is assault & with that assault comes consequences. Those consequences are getting your ass kicked & being arrested. If you want to stop these problems then listen to the Police when they give you directions, like don’t move keep your hands up. If you decide to resist you will be subdued by all means possible, cuffed & taken to jail.

I’m blown away with Pelosi and the rest of the hypocrite democrats who use security for their own protection and expect for their security to shoot if an attempt on their lives. Why is it now OK for a police officer to be assaulted, as previous others have said “they protect us” and “they and their families risk their lives” for us daily. Democrat double standard!!
