Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was recently hospitalized with an infection after reportedly experiencing flu-like symptoms.
“Thomas was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Friday evening after experiencing flu-like symptoms,” a press release from the High Court said.
“He underwent tests, was diagnosed with an infection, and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics,” the release added. “His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two.”
“Justice Thomas will participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present on the basis of the briefs, transcripts, and audio of the oral arguments,” the court noted.
Thomas is 73 years old and is hated by the left due to his reputation as the most conservative justice on the court.
Back in 1991,Thomas underwent a “high-tech lynching,” as he categorized it, during his Supreme Court confirmation process led by then-Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) and Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) using a familiar tactic of conjuring up accusations against him of sexual impropriety against a colleague, Anita Hill.
In one of the most famous moments in Supreme Court nominee history and American history, Thomas strongly rebuked the process and defended himself as a black conservative:
“This is a circus. It’s a national disgrace. And from my standpoint, as a black American, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.”
Given Thomas’ reputation, the left is willing to do whatever it takes to see him off the court – no matter the cost.
Democrats have been dangerously expanding their efforts to regain control of the most powerful court in the nation – which would essentially give them free reign over the country.
Left-wing activists have advocated for the expansion of the court in an effort to flood it with radical justices. They have also ramped up their smear campaigns against sitting justices in order to dissuade them from making certain decisions which would be detrimental to the left’s radical agenda.
“The fact that we actually have conservative, originalist majority in the court is making the left crazy,” Judicial Crisis Network President Carrie Severino said.
“That is really what’s making them so outraged and is driving some of these new lows in our politics surrounding the courts.”
In March 2020, as the Supreme Court heard arguments in the major abortion case June Medical Services v. Russo, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) threatened to make justices “pay the price” should they deliver a ruling that counter’s the Democrat agenda.
“I want to tell you Gorsuch,” Schumer warned, “and I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price.”
“You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” he added.
The court ultimately ruled with abortion advocates in June Medical Services v. Russo, with Roberts joining the liberal members of the court.
Severino and Judicial Crisis Network have particularly criticized a network of “left-wing dark money groups in the Arabella Advisors network,” accusing these groups of doing “everything in their power to corrupt the judiciary and the judicial nominations process.”
