What The Kathy Griffin Saga Says About the Left

It’s probably safe to assume you have seen or at least heard about the gruesome image that started the whole Kathy Griffin debacle on Tuesday, May 30th. The photo that spread like wildfire depicted washed up and often offensive comic Kathy Griffin holding up a very realistic yet fake severed head made to look like President Donald Trump.

In addition to having the president’s signature hairstyle, the replica was also covered in a substance meant to look like blood. The result of the photo was an image closer to as ISIS beheading than a practical joke by anyone’s standards.

What Happened Since The Photo’s Release?

A few key things have happened since Griffin’s stunt.. First of all, on Wednesday, Kathy apologized for the photo admitting that it had “gone too far.” CNN, who employed Griffin as a co-host for their network terminated her contract on Wednesday morning after the photo’s release.

On Friday, June 2nd, the disgraced comic appeared alongside attorney Lisa Bloom at a press conference, where she communicated it was really her, rather than the Trump family who has suffered due to this situation. The following are a few snippets from Griffin’s statement:

“What’s happening to me has never happened, ever, in the history of this great county.”

This happening Griffin is referring to is the backlash she has experienced as a result of her grotesque photo shoot.

“If I don’t stand up and say this, I’m afraid there’s gonna be some 12-year-old nerdy girl like me in Oak Park, Illinois, who’s gonna maybe be watching me to see what I do. And this bully, this president, of all people, is gonna come after me? I’m not laying down for this guy. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. There’s been a real shift change starting about 18 months ago.”

She continues to explain how “old white guys” like Trump have kept her down for years, and maintained that Trump’s authoritarianism is bad for the country and could ruin America for future generations.

In essence, she is the victim, and Trump and his family are the bullies, but why? What did the Trumps do to bully Kathy Griffin?

How The Trumps Responded

Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump tweeted out the following about the photo shoot that depicted him dead and bloodied:

“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11-year-old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this, sick!”

First Lady Melania Trump said, “As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing.”

Donald Trump Jr. stated on Tuesday that the photo was “disgusting”, and then said on Wednesday that the comedian’s apology was “phony.”

So, Who’s Bullying Who?

After looking over the back and forth between the Trump family and Griffin, it’s hard to understand Kathy’s statements on Friday. Where is the bullying coming from? Where is the authoritarianism?

Perhaps, to be fair, there is something going on behind the scenes that the general public isn’t privy to. However, if all that has been said or done are these statements, it seems Kathy is sorely mistaken when it comes to her being the victim.

The Trump family, namely President Trump is the victim. He is the one depicted as dead all for the sake of a joke. He is the one who has taken each and every harsh criticism the left winged media can think to dish out and still maintained his focus on moving the country forward.

Ironically, Trump has been called vulgar and violent all throughout his time running for office and throughout his tenure as the president. However, he has never held up a severed head replica for the world to see, and then claimed to be the victim of the very backlash he himself created in so doing.

The Left and Violence

This is just more of the same from America’s amoral left. They frequently preach love while practicing violence, or at least the suggestion of violence.

This incident has also shown that no one should do something that even might seem to promote violence in this day in age with ISIS on the prowl. No matter what a person thinks of a sitting American president, even if it’s in jest, it should never be okay for anyone to propagate violence against them.

Thankfully, at least in this case, there has been some justice served, and Kathy now has to deal with the mess she has made.
